About The Role

Who we are?

We're a fast-growing telehealth product launched in 2025, backed by an established e-commerce company with roots going back to 2012. We're focused on the US market, building a platform that connects patients with doctors for real medical care: think weight-loss treatment, prescriptions, and insurance-covered telehealth visits, all wrapped in a strict, HIPAA-conscious environment. Our user base is growing fast, and our team is remote-first across multiple countries.

Role Overview

We're bringing in a strong Tech Lead to own the toughest technical problems on the platform — deep architecture calls, complex integrations, and anything that needs more bandwidth than day-to-day delivery allows. You'll work side by side with our Team Lead, focusing on the technical side while they focus on people and delivery.

You'll combine deep hands-on Magento 2 engineering with real technical leadership — owning architecture decisions, setting the technical bar, and helping the rest of the team level up. You'll have a real say in how things get built, and a direct line into both technical and product challenges.

This is a strong fit for a senior engineer who's ready to step beyond pure execution — someone who sees the whole picture, isn't afraid of legacy code, helps people around them grow, and treats AI-assisted development tools as a normal part of the daily workflow, not a novelty.

What you'll do

  • Own technical architecture and design decisions for the platform, balancing pragmatism with long-term maintainability — perfect code is not the goal; working software is
  • Develop and maintain Magento 2 functionality: custom modules, API integrations, admin workflows, and performance improvements
  • Work with our Python-based microservices — integrate with them, extend them when needed, and collaborate on service-level changes
  • Define and enforce technical standards, code review practices, and quality bar across the team
  • Conduct code reviews with practical, direct feedback focused on delivery quality, not nitpicking
  • Support and mentor engineers on the team, helping them make better technical calls on their own
  • Identify and resolve the complex technical problems that stall with our current setup — the ones that need more than a mid-level developer can carry alone
  • Design and maintain integrations across our stack — payments (Stripe), third-party medical and marketing systems, and internal microservices — with a clear understanding of security boundaries and authorization
  • Proactively flag reliability, performance, and developer-experience issues before they become incidents
  • Collaborate with Product, QA, and DevOps to clarify requirements, validate solutions, and ship smoothly
  • Communicate technical progress, risks, and decisions clearly to the Team Lead and stakeholders

Success in this role looks like

  • The backlog of complex, senior-level tasks that used to stall stops piling up
  • The team ships integrations and features with fewer security or data-handling surprises
  • Engineers around you are visibly leveling up — code reviews teach, not just gatekeep
  • The Team Lead has a real technical partner to think through hard problems with, not just another pair of hands

Team & culture

  • The team has been together for years (some for 8-10+), even though this product itself is a young spin-off — you're joining an experienced crew, not a green startup team
  • Direct, no-nonsense communication culture — disagreeing with your manager is normal and welcomed, not risky
  • Scrum/Kanban hybrid workflow, mandatory code review, unit and integration tests, and some QA automation tests that run directly against production to catch real issues early
  • AI tools are part of daily life here: GitHub Copilot, Gemini Pro, Claude Code, and others — used deliberately, not as a crutch

Hiring process

  • Intro call with a recruiter (30 min)
  • Technical interview with the Team Lead and a Senior Developer (1.5 hours)
  • Final interview with the CTO (45 min - 1 hour)
  • Reference check
  • Offer

Benefits

  • Competitive compensation based on your experience and skills
  • Flexible schedule and remote work options.
  • 20 working days of paid vacation per year.
  • 5 paid sick days per year.
  • Conferences, workshops, webinars, and training — we invest in your growth
  • Exposure to a wide variety of technologies and international projects
  • A team that genuinely values engineering quality, initiative, and smart use of modern AI tools
