At Fisher & Paykel Home Solutions, we're helping homeowners embrace cleaner, smarter energy solutions. As we continue to grow our residential solar and whole-of-home energy offering, we're looking for an experienced Residential Solar Design Engineer to join our Design Services team.
This is a true engineering design role where you'll create innovative residential solar and energy solutions that deliver exceptional performance, reliability and customer value. Working alongside our Product, Sales, Installation and Service teams, you'll transform customer requirements into practical, technically robust designs that make sustainable living more accessible.
With a strong and growing pipeline of residential projects across Auckland and beyond, you'll have the opportunity to work on diverse designs while contributing to the future of integrated home energy solutions.
Where you’ll make your mark
As one of our technical design specialists, you'll develop detailed residential solar and energy system designs that meet engineering, regulatory and customer requirements. You'll interpret customer specifications, prepare detailed drawings, undertake energy modelling and system calculations, and ensure every solution is both technically sound and commercially practical.
Working closely with our cross-functional teams, you'll provide the technical expertise that supports successful installations and outstanding customer experiences. You'll also contribute to continuously improving our design processes, standards and internal capability as our Home Solutions business continues to evolve.
Your work will span residential solar PV systems, whole-of-home energy solutions, energy modelling, HVAC and hot-water system considerations, load calculations, and designing solutions that help homeowners reduce energy costs while improving sustainability.
You're an engineer who enjoys solving problems and designing practical solutions that make a real difference. You combine technical expertise with curiosity, attention to detail and a passion for creating better outcomes for customers.
You’ll bring
- Three or more years' experience designing or installing residential solar systems, with HVAC or hot-water system experience highly regarded.
- Strong knowledge of AS/NZS standards including 4777, 5033, 5139 and 4509, together with a sound understanding of residential construction and building codes.
- Experience using industry design and modelling software such as SolarPlus , PVSyst , TRNSYS or Revit.
- Strong analytical capability, attention to detail and confidence managing multiple design priorities.
Beyond your technical capability, you're collaborative, customer-focused and enjoy working with others to solve complex challenges. You're comfortable questioning traditional approaches, continuously improving the way work is done, and sharing your knowledge with those around you. Above all, you'll bring a strong commitment to quality, safety and delivering exceptional customer outcomes.
