Silviculture Technician

About The Role
Primary Responsibilities
A silviculture technician provides support and assistance to the silviculture forester.
- GIS collection, reporting and maintenance of land ownership data
- Logging supervision, timber cruising and SFI/FSC compliance
- Supervising and auditing silviculture activities (planting, site prep, timber stand improvement, etc.) for contract compliance
- Attending police jury meetings and communicating outcomes
Job Experience
Attention to detail, creative thinking, and communication skills are vital for success in this role.
Required
- High school diploma or equivalency
- Outstanding safety record in all aspects of previous employment
- Willingness to obtain drone certification
Preferred
- Forestry-focused background experience
- Forestry training through a vocational/technical program or equivalent experience
- Experience in GIS, contractor supervision, implementing silvicultural prescriptions, and using map and GPS for timber inventory
- Willingness to obtain a CDL to operate a lowboy truck and dozer
