Job Summary

The community engagement assistant, student employee position is available to undergraduate students who have been packaged with Federal Work Study (FWS) through Student Financial Services (SFS). This position assists with planning and coordinating service, social, educational, and cultural event programming that engages both the local and campus communities.

Essential Job Functions and Performance Indicators

Job Responsibilities

  • Supports the mission of the University and serves as an ambassador of the Q2 culture of service excellence
  • Models, supports, and holds others accountable to the University’s values
  • Assists with planning and execution of social, educational, cultural, and service community events
  • Assists with planning and organization for the Office of Community Engagement ’s special events, including tracking expenses, scheduling, securing a location, decorating, catering, providing entertainment, setting up/tearing down technology, and ensuring health and safety compliance
  • Assists with the creation of promotional materials, invitations, and guest lists
  • Provides on-site event presence and support to ensure success; prevents potential issues and troubleshoots emerging problems
  • Researches and compares area venues and vendors to ensure competitive services and pricing
  • Serves on key teams, including Alumni Reunion, Homecoming, Dark Carnival, and Winterfest, to help plan and execute events
  • Represents the Office of Community Engagement at events in order to establish, grow, and maintain local business partner relationships
  • Greets students, staff, faculty, and community members at events and ensures optimal customer service
  • Collaborates with University employees and local community members to plan, coordinate, and promote events
  • Assesses event plans for potential challenges and prepares accordingly
  • Serves as team lead for events and submits paperwork during the planning process
  • Provides constructive feedback and ideas related to event programming
  • Adjusts to last-minute changes in weather, availability, or equipment
  • Job may require other duties as assigned.
  • Required Qualifications – An equivalent combination of education, training, and experience will be considered. Additional requirements may be designated by position.
  • Currently enrolled at Lindenwood University
  • Good academic and financial standing with the University
  • Packaged with FWS funding through SFS
