About The Role

The Team

Mobility Global is seeking a detail-oriented Cash Application Specialist to support accurate and timely application of customer payments, resolve payment discrepancies, and maintain clean accounts receivable records. This role partners closely with Commercial, Order-to-Cash (Order Management, Collections), and Treasury teams to ensure cash is applied correctly, unapplied cash is minimized, and remittance and deduction issues are investigated and resolved efficiently. The position is based in Penang, Malaysia with a hybrid work model requiring 2 days per week in the office .

Responsibilities

  • Apply customer payments accurately and timely across systems, including lockbox, bank transfers, and other receipt methods.
  • Post and reconcile cash receipts in SAP , HighRadius , and QuickBooks , ensuring alignment with bank activity and customer remittance details.
  • Research and resolve unapplied cash, short payments, overpayments, and deductions by coordinating with internal stakeholders and customers as needed.
  • Collaborate with Treasury to support daily cash reconciliation, bank postings, and clearing items; escalate issues impacting cash positioning or close timelines.
  • Partner with Order-to-Cash to resolve invoice-level discrepancies, credit memos, disputes, and account adjustments impacting cash application.
  • Coordinate with Commercial teams to clarify customer payment behavior, remittance patterns, and support resolution of recurring payment issues.
  • Maintain clear documentation of investigations, communications, and resolutions using Outlook and Teams to ensure audit-ready records.
  • Prepare and update cash application reports, KPIs, aging/unapplied cash trackers, and reconciliation files using Excel .
  • Support month-end close activities related to cash receipts, AR clearing accounts, and reconciliation deliverables.
  • Identify process improvements to reduce manual work, improve matching rates, and strengthen controls within the cash application cycle.
  • Ensure compliance with internal controls, SOX (if applicable), and standard operating procedures.
  • Assists with internal and external audits by retrieving and organizing financial documentation including bank statements, customer receipts and certain cash reports.
  • Collaborates with tax team to provide and verify SAP GL codes, ensuring accurate posting for withholding tax and VAT compliance.
  • Working with collection team and external banking partners (eg HSBC, BOA, JP Morgan etc) to investigate, identify and clear unidentified credits.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or a related field (or equivalent practical experience).
  • 2+ years of experience in cash application, accounts receivable, or order-to-cash operations (shared services experience is a plus).
  • Proven ability to investigate discrepancies and reconcile transactions with strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate across functions (Commercial, O2C, Treasury) in a professional and timely manner.
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment with deadlines (daily cash posting and month-end close).
  • Ability to work hybrid in Penang, Malaysia (2 days/week in office) .

Technical Proficiencies

  • ERP/Finance Systems: SAP (cash application/AR modules), HighRadius , QuickBooks
  • Productivity & Collaboration: Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, lookups; advanced formulas a plus), Outlook , Teams
  • Core Competencies: bank/lockbox posting, remittance processing, reconciliation, clearing accounts, unapplied cash management, reporting
