About The Role
Position Overview
MHG (Maritime Health Group) is seeking qualified psychologists and psychotherapists to collaborate in providing essential mental health services and 24/7 support to seafarers. The selected candidates will play a vital role in addressing the unique mental health challenges faced by seafarers, including isolation, stress, and the demanding nature of their work environment. Key Responsibilities

Provide Mental Health Services: Offer individual and group counseling sessions to seafarers to address a range of mental health concerns, including but not limited to anxiety, depression, loneliness, and occupational stress.

Offer 24/7 Support: Be available to provide on-call support to seafarers in crisis situations or in need of immediate assistance, ensuring that mental health support is accessible at any time, regardless of location or time zone.

Collaborate with MHG Team: Work closely with other members of the MHG team, including medical professionals, counselors, and maritime experts, to develop comprehensive mental health support programs tailored to the needs of seafarers.

Conduct Assessments: Conduct psychological assessments to identify individual needs and develop personalized treatment plans for seafarers, incorporating evidence-based practices and culturally sensitive approaches.

Provide Training and Education: Offer training sessions and workshops to seafarers and maritime companies on mental health awareness, stress management techniques, and strategies for promoting psychological well-being at sea.

Maintain Documentation: Keep accurate and confidential records of counseling sessions, assessments, and interventions in compliance with ethical and legal standards, ensuring the privacy and confidentiality of seafarers' information.
Qualifications
- A doctoral or master's degree in psychology, counseling, or a related field from an accredited institution.
- At least 5 years of experience as a psychologist or psychotherapist.
- Licensure or certification as a psychologist or psychotherapist, with relevant experience in providing mental health services.
- Specialization in areas such as clinical psychology, counseling psychology, or maritime mental health is preferred.
- Experience working with diverse populations and cultural sensitivity in addressing mental health needs.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to establish rapport and build trust with seafarers from different backgrounds.
- Flexibility and availability to provide on-call support outside of regular business hours as needed.
- Commitment to upholding ethical standards and maintaining the confidentiality of client information.
