Overview
ISS STOXX is growing! We seek a Research Analyst to join our global research team based in Tokyo, Japan.
In this role, you will be responsible for issuing voting recommendations for Japanese shareholder meetings based on proxy circulars and other publicly available information, as well as supporting updates to operational tools and systems.
Responsibilities
- Extract corporate governance information from proxy materials and other disclosures to issue vote recommendations based on ISS' policy guidelines
- Summarize and analyze non-routine agenda items such as M&A proposals and shareholder proposals
- Summarize corporate scandals in English and consider reflecting them in vote recommendations
- Maintain, update, and create various operational tools and systems
- Maintain up to date knowledge, understanding of board, compensation, and shareholder rights issues
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree graduate (preferably has exposure or interested in learning about corporate governance, shareholder issues, or proxy voting issues)
- Has at least 2 years’ work experience in a corporate setup
- Strong writing and reading skills in Japanese and English are essential
- Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other tools
- Able to work independently and in a team environment, as well as under tight deadlines
- Amenable to work in a hybrid setup (3 days in the office and 2 days' work from home per week)
- Amenable to working extended hours during the proxy seasons (overtime and weekend work during the months of February, March, May, and June)
