About the Role

We are looking for a highly experienced Inverter Reliability Subject Matter Expert (SME) to lead the technical strategy, reliability improvement, and lifecycle management of inverter systems across a large portfolio of utility-scale solar assets.

This role will serve as the regional technical authority for inverter-related matters, driving reliability engineering, advanced troubleshooting, OEM management, digital monitoring, and the transition from OEM-supported maintenance to self-performed O&M operations.

Key Responsibilities

Technical Leadership & Reliability

  • Act as the regional SME for solar inverter technologies across the fleet.
  • Lead complex troubleshooting and technical escalations to minimize downtime and maximize asset availability.
  • Conduct Root Cause Analysis (RCA) of major inverter failures and implement corrective/preventive actions.
  • Improve inverter reliability and MTBF through structured engineering interventions.
  • Identify and implement retrofit solutions to address recurring technical issues.

O&M Strategy

  • Drive the transition from OEM-supported maintenance to internal O&M capability post-warranty.
  • Develop maintenance standards, competency frameworks, and troubleshooting processes.
  • Standardize inverter maintenance practices across sites and regions.

OEM & Stakeholder Management

  • Lead technical engagements with inverter OEMs.
  • Manage warranty claims, technical reviews, and performance improvement initiatives.
  • Partner with Operations, Engineering, Asset Management, and Procurement teams.

Digital & Data Analytics

  • Enable integration of inverter data with SCADA and monitoring platforms.
  • Develop dashboards, performance analytics, and predictive maintenance tools.
  • Drive data-driven reliability improvements across the fleet.

Spare Parts & Lifecycle Management

  • Develop optimal spare parts strategies and alternate sourcing plans.
  • Create equivalent component databases to improve component availability and reduce dependence on OEMs.
  • Evaluate new technologies and suppliers to optimize lifecycle costs.

Training & Capability Building

  • Upskill regional engineering and O&M teams.
  • Develop technical documentation, SOPs, troubleshooting manuals, and audit frameworks.
  • Build internal inverter expertise and reduce reliance on external support.

Required Experience

  • 8+ years of experience in Utility Scale Solar, Power Electronics, Inverter
  • Engineering, Technical Services, or Reliability Engineering
  • Strong experience with leading inverter OEM technologies such as: Sungrow or Schneider
  • Proven expertise in: Inverter troubleshooting, Root Cause Analysis (RCA), Reliability Engineering, Technical Escalation Management, Solar O&M, SCADA & Monitoring Systems, Asset Performance Optimization
  • Experience supporting large-scale solar portfolios (preferred)
  • Strong stakeholder, OEM, and cross-functional leadership skills
