Position Summary
Monitors recreational and drop-in sports events and activities to ensure participant safety and cooperative play.
Responsible To
Community Recreation Coordinator - Recreation Programs & Activities
Supervises
N/A
Responsible For
- Monitor compliance to the City’s Code of Conduct and enforce compliance by speaking to the participant(s) and then reporting on going non-compliance and/or unacceptable behaviour to the Manager of Recreation and Programs or designate for further action.
- Ensures the safety of participants during recreational activities and documents all accidents/incidents immediately. In the event that it is necessary, provides appropriate first aid and follows emergency procedures.
- Monitors and reports on any safety issues or hazardous conditions to the Recreation Facilities Supervisor.
- Enforces a zero-tolerance policy of abusive behaviour in accordance with R zone policies.
- Assists public with general program information.
- Acts as a City of Niagara Falls representative and maintains good relations with staff and public at all times.
- Performs other duties, as assigned.
Position Requirements
- Mature and able to enforce safety.
- Good conflict resolution, de-escalation, communication, teamwork, leadership and problem-solving skills.
- Able to relate positively and effectively with diverse user-groups.
- Customer Service focused.
- Emergency First Aid Certificate and CPR is an asset.
Working Conditions
- Part-time hours, as needed.
- Requires evening and weekend availability.
