About The Role
The Infection Preventionist coordinates the infection control program in the hospital. The designated person will be given the authority to implement and enforce the Program policies, coordinate all infection prevention and control activities within the hospital, and facilitate ongoing monitoring of the effectiveness of prevention and/or control activities and interventions. The Infection Preventionist will ensure the IP program is in compliance with professional, state, federal and regulatory standards designed to reduce or eliminate spread of infections outbreaks in the facility and to monitor patient care for compliance with established standards.
Provides related education to staff, patients and visitors as needed. Conducts rounding, audits, tracers, and just-in-time education. Performs daily surveillance and reporting. Participates in root cause analyses and strategic meetings regarding infection prevention initiatives.
Minimum Requirements: Education: Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing Experience: 3 - 5 years clinical experience in acute care facility Certifications: Must be currently licensed, certified or registered to practice profession as required by law, regulation in state of practice or policy. CPR. Preferred Requirements: Education: Bachelor's or Master's degree in nursing Experience: 1 year working in Infection Prevention in acute care setting Certifications: Must have National Certification in Infection Control (CIC) or obtain within 2 years of assuming the position; AHA BLS . #LI-AL2
