About The Role

WSP is currently initiating a search for a Process Piping and Instrumentation Design Technician. The candidate will be involved in projects with our Power Generation Team and be part of a growing organization that meets our clients’ objectives and solves their challenges. Your Impact Lead the development, coordination, and quality control of Piping & Instrumentation (P&ID) and process piping design deliverables for complex power generation projects. This role is responsible for ensuring that all design outputs—P&IDs, flow diagrams, and drawings—are accurate, consistent, and aligned with engineering intent, industry codes, and client standards Lead the development, interpretation, and coordination of P&IDs, ensuring alignment with process design, system functionality, and instrumentation requirements Develop and maintain process piping layouts, equipment arrangements, and system routing for power generation projects Ensure consistency between P&IDs, piping models, and engineering documentation Establish and enforce QA/QC procedures, checklists, and review workflows specific to piping and instrumentation deliverables Ensure all deliverables meet requirements for accuracy, completeness, constructability, and traceability Monitor and report on quality metrics and recurring issues, driving continuous improvement in design execution Serve as technical lead for piping and instrumentation design deliverables on assigned projects Provide guidance and mentorship to designers and technicians, reinforcing P&ID accuracy and QA/QC best practices Participate in client meetings, design reviews, and project coordination discussions Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources, and conduct, and adhere to WSP’s Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures Perform additional responsibilities as required by business needs Who You Are Required Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent. Minimum of 10 years of relevant post-education experience in a related job capacity. Strong experience in P&ID development, review, and piping system design within power generation or industrial facilities Deep understanding of piping design standards, instrumentation integration, and system flow diagrams Proven experience leading or executing QA/QC processes for piping and instrumentation deliverables High attention to detail with demonstrated ownership of design quality and documentation accuracy Ability to work schedules conducive to project-specific requirements that may extend beyond the typical workweek. Occasional travel may be required depending on project-specific requirements. Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP’s health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies. Preferred Qualifications Associate’s Degree Power plant / refinery field experience #LI-SS2
