Role Overview

Are you a skilled Lymphoedema Therapist able to undertake all aspects of your clinical duties as an autonomous practitioner?

Can you provide a client-centred and evidence-based service to adult patients (mostly outpatients, but some inpatients) for the management of their lymphoedema?

You will deliver MLD/SLD, compression (including multi-component bandaging and hosiery) and education on skincare and exercise within the scope of your qualification and experience. Compression garments and other stock required will be decided upon by you. Most patients seen are for secondary lymphoedema, however we accept primary lymphoedema referrals too.

What you’ll do

  • Be responsible for the lymphoedema management of patients referred to you and to practise as an accountable professional using reflective practise and clinical reasoning to provide an individualised treatment programme for each patient.
  • Obtain informed, valid consent on an ongoing basis which endeavours to keep them involved in their own health care plan. This includes education to support ongoing management.
  • Include and liaise with members of the multi-disciplinary team to best support and care for the patient.
  • Ensure ongoing and long-term care for the patient by liaising with external support services and other clinicians.
  • Maintain accurate, comprehensive, and timely patient treatment records which include recording if a patient could not be seen/was not seen.
  • Always manage clinical risk within your caseload and ensure potential clinical risk is effectively communicated and managed.
  • To support the ongoing development of the lymphoedema service provision.

What you’ll bring

  • AHP or nursing qualification with HCPC or RCN accreditation.
  • UK recognised qualification in Lymphoedema management.
  • Proven experience as a lymphoedema therapist with skills in all aspects of lymphoedema management including compression garments and exercise provision.
  • Sound anatomy and physiology understanding and knowledge.
  • Experience in treating patients with a secondary and primary lymphoedema diagnosis.
