As Shift Engineer , you will play a vital role in ensuring the smooth operation and maintenance of the hotel’s facilities and equipment. You will support the Engineering team in delivering a safe, efficient and well‑maintained environment for both guests and associates. This is an excellent opportunity for a skilled and hands‑on professional who takes pride in problem‑solving and maintaining high operational standards within a luxury setting. Key Responsibilities Respond promptly to guest maintenance requests, ensuring efficient and professional resolution Perform routine preventive maintenance on mechanical, electrical, kitchen and HVAC equipment Inspect tools, machinery and facilities, identifying faults and carrying out necessary repairs Troubleshoot and conduct basic repairs across plumbing, electrical, carpentry and general maintenance areas Carry out painting, minor repairs, fixture replacements and general upkeep of guest rooms and public areas Maintain and manage inventory of tools, parts and engineering supplies Identify and operate shut‑off valves and utility systems safely and effectively Communicate daily activities, maintenance issues and handover notes across shifts Support maintenance of landscaping systems, including irrigation and external areas Use appropriate safety systems, including Lockout/Tagout procedures, at all times Maintain accurate records and utilise basic computer systems to log work and adjust equipment settings Ensure all work areas are clean, safe and compliant with health and safety standards Collaborate with other departments to ensure minimal disruption to guest experience Core Competencies We are seeking a dependable and technically skilled individual with a proactive approach to maintenance and problem‑solving. You will bring versatility, attention to detail and a strong sense of responsibility. You should have: Basic knowledge across multiple disciplines, including electrical, plumbing, HVAC, carpentry and general maintenance Ability to diagnose faults and carry out repairs efficiently Strong organisational skills and attention to detail A service‑oriented mindset with the ability to interact professionally with guests Good communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively within a team Understanding of health & safety procedures within an engineering environment Ability to work under pressure and respond quickly to operational needs Basic computer skills for logging and tracking maintenance activities Physical capability to perform the operational requirements of the role Flexibility to work a 4‑on, 4‑off rotational shift pattern , including a combination of day and night shifts , demonstrating commitment to maintaining seamless 24‑hour operational excellence At The St. Regis London , our Hosts are the heartbeat of our legacy of exceptional service.
