Starting Pay: From $24.00 per hour (higher compensation available based on experience)

Position Summary

We are looking for a skilled CNC Fabrication Equipment Operator to join a second-shift production team. This role is responsible for operating automated equipment used to fabricate structural steel components while ensuring quality, accuracy, and workplace safety. Candidates should be comfortable working with heavy materials and interpreting fabrication documentation.

Primary Responsibilities

Machine Operation

  • Set up and operate CNC fabrication equipment, including plasma cutters, beam drill lines, and angle lines.
  • Process structural steel components according to production schedules and engineering requirements.
  • Monitor machine performance and make adjustments to maintain dimensional accuracy and product quality.
  • Perform minor programming edits or machine adjustments to accommodate changes in material size or thickness.

Production & Quality

  • Read and interpret fabrication drawings, blueprints, and work orders before beginning production.
  • Verify completed parts using precision measuring tools such as tape measures, calipers, and squares.
  • Maintain quality standards by checking dimensions and tolerances throughout the production process.

Material Handling

  • Load, position, and secure steel beams, plates, and other materials using overhead cranes, forklifts, rigging equipment, or other approved material handling devices.
  • Safely transport materials throughout the fabrication facility while following established procedures.

Equipment Care & Safety

  • Perform routine machine inspections and basic preventive maintenance.
  • Troubleshoot minor equipment issues and report repairs requiring additional support.
  • Keep work areas clean, organized, and free of hazards.
  • Follow OSHA regulations and all company safety policies while operating equipment.

Required Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required; technical school or trade school training is a plus.
  • Minimum of 2 years of CNC machine operating experience in structural steel fabrication or another heavy manufacturing environment.
  • Ability to read and understand structural steel shop drawings and fabrication blueprints.
  • Experience using precision measuring equipment, including tape measures, calipers, and layout squares.
  • Experience operating overhead cranes, forklifts, and rigging equipment is preferred.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude with excellent attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently while contributing to a team-oriented production environment.
