Hexcel is currently seeking a Project Manager M/F . The position could be based in Dagneux (close to Lyon) or in Les Avenières (close to Chambéry), France.

Serve as the primary leader and internal consultant for major capital projects in France and Germany, with potential to support additional projects across the European region. This role will lead the full project lifecycle—from concept through implementation and hand-off—while driving improvements in site processes, equipment, and infrastructure. The role is responsible for managing the capital budgets and associated systems, while providing technical expertise, stakeholder alignment, and project oversight to ensure safe, timely, and on-budget delivery. Must be able to communicate clearly with all levels of the organization and solve complex problems efficiently, in a team-based environment.

Key Responsibilities and Activities

  • Manage capital projects (up to $50M), which would include, but not be limited to, scoping and estimating the projects, authoring capital expenditure requests for the same, leading multi-functional project teams, providing cost and schedule control, identifying required resources, and coordinating between all affected parties.
  • Work with site personnel to efficiently and effectively execute projects with minimal impact to existing operations.
  • Communicate project status with senior employees and project stakeholders; develop and deliver formal presentations to management as necessary.
  • Develop proposals or RFQ’s for the purposes of scoping or estimating capital investments; work with vendors and/or contractors to optimize system performance.
  • Manage the procurement process for capital expenditure projects, including interface and negotiations with suppliers of equipment and services.
  • Develop technical specifications in coordination with local site teams, ensuring that equipment conforms to local specifications and availability.
  • Oversight and management of Engineering drawings, including Engineering and Process Flow Diagrams, Assembly Drawings, and Detailed Design Drawings.
  • Evaluate field installations and recommend design modifications to eliminate machine or system malfunctions.
  • Provide oversight for commissioning and startup of new or modified equipment
  • Ensure safe working practices are carried out to comply with site standards on health, safety, and environmental regulations.

Qualifications & Experience

  • University or Engineer degree in Chemical, Mechanical, Electrical, or Civil Engineering with a minimum of 10 years of experience in the field or in a related area
  • Demonstrated ability to manage projects and fulfill responsibilities associated with project engineering teams in continuous, high-paced environments
  • Experience in industrial manufacturing facilities - Experience in developing and reading of mechanical design drawings
  • Knowledge of a range of engineering disciplines (instrumentation, electrical, civil, mechanical, and chemical)
  • Demonstrated ability to both work within and lead multi-disciplinary teams and to perform safety analysis, especially HAZOP or FEMA
  • Oral and written communication skills, strong interpersonal skills, and superior organizational abilities
  • Ability to take initiative, maintain confidentiality, and meet deadlines - Ability to command the personal respect and confidence of colleagues and customers for technical capability
  • Must speak English proficiently
  • Travel will vary significantly based upon the project assignments and the stage of execution, up to 30%.
