Overview
We are looking for an experienced Construction Quality Control (CQC) Manager to oversee quality assurance activities and ensure projects meet contract requirements, safety standards, and industry regulations. This role involves managing inspections, documentation, and coordination across project teams to deliver high-quality results.
Required Qualifications
- U.S. Citizenship is required.
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field with at least 10 years of relevant experience, or 20 years of directly related construction experience without a degree.
- Minimum of 7-10 years of experience working for a commercial or industrial general contractor.
- Current USACE/NAVFAC Construction Quality Management (CQM) certification.
- Strong knowledge of civil, architectural, mechanical, and electrical construction.
- Thorough understanding of construction sequencing and project scheduling.
- Experience with project change management and quality documentation.
- Solid knowledge of commercial, industrial, and site construction methods.
- Proficiency with construction management software and Microsoft Office applications.
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to work in active construction environments, including walking uneven terrain, climbing ladders and stairs, and conducting routine site inspections.
- Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
Candidates who do not currently possess the required certification may be given up to six months to obtain it.
Primary Responsibilities
- Develop, maintain, and update project quality control documentation, including submittal logs and required quality reports.
- Review shop drawings, product data, and submittals to verify compliance with project requirements and specifications.
- Lead weekly quality control meetings with project leadership and maintain accurate meeting documentation.
- Prepare daily quality control reports detailing project progress, inspections, compliance, and corrective actions.
- Conduct preparatory, initial, and follow-up inspections for each definable feature of work to verify quality standards are achieved before construction proceeds.
- Confirm quality checklists are completed before concrete placement, structural steel installation, and other critical construction activities.
- Inspect incoming materials to ensure they match approved submittals and are properly stored before installation.
- Facilitate preconstruction meetings with subcontractors and project leadership before each new phase of work and document all discussions.
- Coordinate required code inspections, third-party inspections, and testing while maintaining complete inspection records.
- Track deficiencies, verify corrective actions, and ensure non-conforming work is resolved before additional work continues.
- Perform ongoing field inspections to verify construction activities remain compliant with approved plans, specifications, and contract requirements.
- Coordinate building system testing and commissioning activities.
- Prepare and distribute pre-punch lists, punch lists, and verify completion of corrective work.
- Maintain accurate as-built drawings throughout the project.
- Assemble closeout documentation, including warranties, operations and maintenance manuals, and final as-built records.
- Coordinate final inspections and occupancy documentation.
- Exercise the authority to stop work whenever safety concerns, quality issues, or significant project risks are identified.
