Role: -Supplier Manager -Brakes, Tyres Location : IBC Knowledge Park, Bengaluru Reporting To : Lead - Vehicle Dynamics Systems Sourcing Team name : Supply Chain Operations Responsibilities Serve as the resident supplier manager responsible for the design and execution of both short-term and long-term sourcing strategies for built-to-spec commodities. Identify potential new suppliers in accordance with technical drawings, statements of requirements, emerging technology trends, and competitive risks; evaluate supply chain vulnerabilities and implement comprehensive mitigation strategies. Direct and oversee the end-to-end selection process for new vendors, encompassing identification, qualification, auditing, assessment, contracting, and process validation. Participate in preliminary technical reviews with prospective suppliers in coordination with the engineering department. Collaborate with engineering and finance teams to analyze should-cost reports and develop strategic levers to reconcile discrepancies between target costs and supplier quotations. Define and establish structures for Part Cost, Non-Recurring Engineering (NRE) expenses, and lead times for assigned commodities to ensure program targets for cost, quality, and schedule are met. Formalize supplier contracts to guarantee adherence to cost, quality, and delivery standards while mitigating risks related to Service Level Agreements (SLAs). Ensure alignment with organizational long-term forecasts and business objectives to secure necessary production capacity across supplier manufacturing facilities. Disseminate monthly requirement plans to suppliers and monitor strict compliance with the released Material Requirements Planning (MRP). Monitor capacity levels at both primary and sub-tier suppliers to maintain a resilient and efficient supply chain. Maintain established operational processes and coordinate periodic audits, Management Review Meeting (MRM) and performance scorecard evaluations with suppliers. Develop and manage mechanisms to monitor commodity price volatility and communicate the subsequent impact on product pricing to relevant stakeholders. Facilitate the seamless integration of engineering changes and manage product obsolescence at the supplier level, ensuring appropriate price adjustments as required. Manage the timely disposition of non-conforming materials and coordinate corrective actions with suppliers. Establish regular communication cadences with engineering and Manufacturing Quality Assurance (MQA) teams to assess supply base performance and drive continuous improvement initiatives. Ensure that all supplier disbursements are processed punctually in accordance with established credit and payment terms. Experience and Qualifications Candidates must possess a Bachelor or Master of Engineering degree in Industrial or Mechanical Engineering. A minimum of 5 to 8 years of professional experience in strategic sourcing and material management for built-to-specification components is required. Must have competencies Possess prior experience in the development of built-to-specification products , specifically automotive components such as braking systems involving metal forming (casting, machining, stamped parts) and polymers (seals, o-rings, gaskets, coatings) or equivalent assemblies. Demonstrate comprehensive knowledge of the 4S framework: Scouting, Selection, Securing, and Supplier Relationship Management. Exhibit significant expertise in analyzing supplier landscapes, value chain mapping, and implementing Zero-Based Costing methodologies. Maintain advanced proficiency in diverse manufacturing processes, including casting, machining, forging, and sheet metal fabrication, alongside various surface treatment techniques. Demonstrate the capacity to conduct rigorous spend analysis and lead complex negotiations, supported by a thorough understanding of commercial frameworks and INCO terms. Good to have competencies Possess a proven track record in interpreting service level agreements (SLAs), performing contract analysis, and managing supplier negotiations. Maintain proficiency in procurement operations, including the administration of periodic production cycles, vendor oversight, and the guarantee of production fulfillment. Display a thorough understanding of AIAG core tools (APQP, PPAP, FMEA) and quality management standards, including IATF 16949 and ISO 9001. Evidence of substantial experience in the product development life cycle (PDLC) and superior analytical problem-solving capabilities is mandatory. Ability to function effectively within cross-functional teams, with a focus on professional collaboration and persuasive communication. Proven resilience in high-pressure environments, with the ability to consistently meet rigorous project deadlines. Demonstrate superior organizational planning, process optimization, and strategic decision-making skills. Possess exceptional written and verbal communication skills alongside highly developed interpersonal professional attributes. Want to know more?
