About The Role
The Nuclear Medicine Department within Portsmouth University Hospitals NHS Trust is seeking to recruit an enthusiastic Band 6 Radiographer/Technologist to join our friendly and experienced team
This is a unique opportunity to develop your future in Nuclear Medicine.
Located on the South Coast Portsmouth is a Waterfront City with good transport links, including bus, train, ferry and bike trails and routes. The surrounding areas offer many historical and cultural sites to visit. Portsmouth also has an excellent social and night life.
The department currently has 3 Gamma Cameras
- Siemens Symbia S SPECT Gamma Camera
- Siemens Symbia T SPECT/CT Gamma Camera.
- GE Discovery 870DR
There is the possibility of the Symbia S being replaced next year
Staff also carry out Daily Camera QC duties.
We are a busy department and have a wide-ranging patient population attending daily. The workload varies daily which can be interesting and challenging. As a department we would like to progress the service provided, therefore we are looking for a passionate and knowledgeable person to make the most of this exciting opportunity.
The Nuclear Medicine Department performs a wide range of scans including Cardiac Perfusion scanning, Paediatric scanning, Renal, Orthopaedic, Endocrine, Brain, Lymphatic & Gastric scanning. This offers a varied and interesting workload. This Trust offers a variety of in-house course to enable staff to complete CPD.

Essential
- BSc, PGD or equivalent in Nuclear Medicine
- Where applicable, hold a current state registration certificate.
- Have portfolio evidence of CPD.
Desirable
- Extended Clinical role e.g. IV cannulations qualification
- Post graduate qualification.
Experience
Essential
- 2 years post qualification experience in Nuclear Medicine.
Desirable
- 3+ years post graduate experience.
- CT Colonography experience.
Skills and Knowledge
- Demonstrate specialized keyboard skills required for image manipulation.
- Good organisational skills
- Ability to work as part of a team or alone.
- Good communication skills
- Good attention to detail
- High levels of concentration required.
- Demonstrate co-ordination and sensory skills required for precise positioning of patients with narrow margin for error.
- Speed and accuracy.
- Understanding of current Ionising Radiation Regulations
