We are seeking an experienced **SQL Technical Architect** to lead the design, optimization, and modernization of enterprise database solutions built on **Microsoft SQL Server**. This role is ideal for professionals with deep expertise in SQL development, database architecture, performance tuning, and enterprise application support, who are passionate about delivering scalable, secure, and high-performing data platforms.

As a SQL Technical Architect, you will work closely with business stakeholders, application development teams, and solution architects to design robust database solutions, optimize complex SQL workloads, and drive best practices across the data layer. You will play a key role in defining database architecture, improving application performance, mentoring engineering teams, and ensuring reliable, business-critical data operations in a large-scale enterprise environment.

## Requirements

### Key Responsibilities

• Design and maintain scalable database architectures using Microsoft SQL Server to support enterprise applications.
• Develop, optimize, and maintain complex stored procedures, functions, views, triggers, and SQL queries for high-performance applications.
• Design database schemas, indexing strategies, and data models that improve scalability, maintainability, and performance.
• Perform SQL query optimization, execution plan analysis, profiling, and performance tuning to resolve database bottlenecks.
• Analyze, troubleshoot, and resolve database, application, and data-related issues while ensuring system reliability.
• Collaborate with application development teams to design efficient database modules and support end-to-end solution delivery.
• Review database designs, SQL code, and implementation approaches to ensure adherence to architectural standards and best practices.
• Work closely with business stakeholders to understand requirements, support data analysis, and translate business needs into technical solutions.
• Prepare technical documentation, database mapping documents, and implementation guidelines while supporting system upgrades and enhancements.
• Mentor development teams, participate in architecture discussions, conduct technical design reviews, and drive continuous improvements in database engineering practices.

### What Makes You a Great Fit

• 18+ years of experience working with **Microsoft SQL Server**, including 10+ years of hands-on SQL development experience.
• Strong expertise in SQL programming, stored procedures, functions, triggers, views, indexing, and advanced query optimization.
• Extensive experience in database architecture, schema design, performance tuning, execution plan analysis, and SQL profiling.
• Proven ability to troubleshoot complex database performance issues and implement scalable optimization strategies.
• Experience integrating databases with enterprise applications and third-party APIs.
• Strong understanding of database security, scalability, reliability, backup, recovery, and high-availability concepts.
• Experience conducting technical architecture reviews, code reviews, and mentoring database development teams.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and stakeholder management skills with the ability to translate business requirements into technical solutions.
• Familiarity with enterprise application development environments and collaborative Agile delivery practices.
• Experience in the **US Healthcare Payer domain** or other highly regulated industries will be considered a strong advantage.
