About The Role

  • Pay: $21.00+/hour depending on experience
  • Shift: Second Shift | Monday–Friday | 4:00 PM – 3:00 AM
  • Overtime: Occasional Saturdays as needed

Position Summary

We are hiring a Steel Fabrication Technician to join a manufacturing and fabrication team in Arlington, TN. This role is responsible for fitting, assembling, and preparing structural steel components using blueprints, fabrication drawings, and shop equipment. The ideal candidate has prior structural steel fabrication experience and can work efficiently in a production environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Interpret shop drawings, blueprints, weld symbols, and layout details for structural steel work
  • Fit and assemble steel components such as beams, columns, stairs, railings, and miscellaneous metals
  • Perform layout, measuring, cutting, and alignment of materials using standard fabrication methods
  • Operate shop equipment including ironworkers, magnetic drills, band saws, grinders, oxy-fuel torches, and plasma cutting tools
  • Tack and prepare assemblies for welding and final production
  • Use overhead cranes, rigging, and material handling equipment safely
  • Inspect fit-up, alignment, and dimensions to ensure accuracy and quality standards
  • Maintain a safe and organized work area while meeting daily production goals

Required Qualifications

  • 2+ years of experience in structural steel fitting or fabrication
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, weld symbols, and fabrication drawings
  • Experience with layout, fitting, and structural steel assembly processes
  • Familiarity with fabrication tools, measuring instruments, and shop equipment
  • Ability to handle heavy materials and stand for extended periods
  • Strong focus on safety, quality, and teamwork

Preferred Skills

  • Experience with overhead cranes and rigging
  • Flux-Cored Arc Welding (FCAW) experience in a fabrication setting
  • Ability to produce clean FCAW welds on structural components
  • Welding experience in flat, horizontal, vertical, and overhead positions

Work Environment

  • Fast-paced fabrication shop setting
  • Frequent lifting, standing, and use of heavy equipment
