Pay: Up to $34/hour, depending on experience
Position Summary
We are seeking a Fabrication Shop Supervisor to lead evening shift operations in a structural steel manufacturing environment. This hands-on role is responsible for coordinating shop activities, guiding production teams, and ensuring work is completed safely, efficiently, and in line with quality standards.
The supervisor will work closely with leadership, quality teams, and maintenance to keep production on track and continuously improve shop performance.
Key Responsibilities
- Partner with the Shop Foreman and department leaders to meet production schedules and delivery deadlines
- Supervise fitters and welders while promoting a culture of safety, quality, and accountability
- Assign daily workloads to maximize productivity and workflow efficiency
- Provide hands-on support with fabrication questions, layout interpretation, welding techniques, and troubleshooting
- Monitor project timelines and adjust crew assignments as production priorities change
- Coordinate with maintenance personnel to keep fabrication equipment operating efficiently
- Establish clear expectations, provide coaching, and encourage open communication with team members
- Collaborate with the Quality Control team to maintain AISC quality standards
- Assist with hiring, onboarding, employee evaluations, training, timekeeping, and performance management
- Perform additional leadership and production support duties as needed
Required Qualifications
- Proven experience in structural steel fabrication , including fitting, layout, and production operations
- Previous experience leading or supervising fabrication teams
- Strong knowledge of structural steel materials, fabrication methods, and welding processes
- Familiarity with CNC fabrication equipment and material handling operations
- Understanding of workplace safety procedures, quality standards, and cost-conscious production practices
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to collaborate across departments
- Ability to work overtime and Saturdays when production schedules require
- High school diploma or equivalent
Preferred Qualifications
- Technical certifications or an associate degree in a manufacturing, welding, or related field
- Experience coordinating production schedules and supporting continuous process improvements
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to mentor and develop fabrication teams
