Compensation: $30.00+/hour, based on experience
Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Structural Steel Production Lead to support day-to-day operations within a busy fabrication facility. This position plays a critical role in coordinating shop activities, guiding fabrication personnel, and helping ensure production goals are met while maintaining high standards for quality, safety, and efficiency.
The ideal candidate brings a strong background in structural steel fabrication along with proven leadership experience in a manufacturing environment.
Primary Responsibilities
- Work with shop management to achieve production targets and project deadlines.
- Direct daily activities of welders, fitters, and fabrication personnel.
- Distribute work assignments and adjust workloads to support efficient production flow.
- Provide guidance on welding, fit-up procedures, material layout, and fabrication methods.
- Identify and resolve fabrication challenges to minimize production delays.
- Track shop progress and communicate schedule concerns, material issues, or production updates.
- Promote compliance with safety requirements, quality expectations, and company procedures.
- Coordinate with maintenance personnel to address equipment-related issues and reduce downtime.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and productive work area.
- Assist with onboarding, training, and development of shop employees.
- Work alongside Quality Control personnel to verify fabrication accuracy and workmanship.
- Support inspections, dimensional verification, and required production documentation.
- Perform additional leadership and fabrication duties as needed.
Qualifications
- Minimum of 3 years of experience leading, supervising, or coordinating teams within a structural steel fabrication environment.
- Strong knowledge of welding, fit-up, layout, and structural steel manufacturing processes.
- Experience working with CNC fabrication equipment and production machinery.
- Ability to read and interpret fabrication drawings, blueprints, and shop documentation.
- Understanding of manufacturing safety practices, quality requirements, and production scheduling.
- Experience with Tekla EPM/GO is preferred.
- Strong leadership, communication, and troubleshooting abilities.
- Ability to work overtime, weekends, or modified schedules when production demands require.
