Senior Staff API Engineer

Join Equinix as a Senior Staff API Engineer, where you will be responsible for the architecture, design, deployment, and troubleshooting of various software solutions. You will interact with business and product teams to influence requirements and integrate with all business systems and applications. You will also work closely with the architecture and networking teams to influence design, validation, and deployments. Your role will involve designing, building, and owning the tooling that powers Equinix's API ecosystem, leading technically across teams, improving developer experience, and raising reliability through automation.

• Architect, design, deploy, and troubleshoot various software solutions, particularly in the context of API ecosystems.
• Lead the technical direction across teams, improve developer experience, and enhance reliability through automation.
• Oversee integration with all business systems and applications, ensuring alignment with business and product requirements.
• Senior Staff‑level experience building and operating production systems or internal developer platforms
• Deep experience with API lifecycle management and governance (OpenAPI, OAuth2/OIDC, versioning, compatibility)
• Hands‑on experience with Terraform (providers and modules), Kubernetes, and Linux‑based CI/CD
• Strong coding skills in Go or Python or JavaScript
• An automation‑first mindset and comfort owning systems end‑to‑end while leading through influence
• Familiarity with gateways/edge technologies (e.g., Apigee, ALB, Ingress, Envoy) and identity/authorization patterns
• Experience with SDK generation for multi‑language clients and compatibility testing
• Experience with developer and documentation platforms (e.g., Docusaurus, Backstage, Confluence), including plugins and build integrations
• Experience with MCP and safe agentic/AI workflows for developer tooling
