Southwestern Behavioral Healthcare is looking for compassionate and dedicated Full-Time and Part-time Peer Support Specialists to join our Jail-based team. *Please note: Weekend availability is required.*

Hourly rate for Peer Support Specialist with Certification by DMHA as a Certified Peer = $17.50/hour

Hourly rate for Peer Support Specialist with NO Certification = $16/hour

Key Responsibilities

  • Support individuals with substance use disorders as they prepare for recovery and community reentry.
  • Engage individuals early during booking and intake to identify recovery support needs.
  • Provide one-on-one coaching and advocacy within the Vanderburgh County Jail using a person-centered, trauma-informed approach
  • Connect participants with treatment, recovery, and community resources.
  • Assist with reentry planning to promote successful transitions back into the community.

Qualifications

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED required
  • Certification preferred; eligibility required.
  • To be considered certified, must have either:
  • Indiana Certified Peer Support Professional (CPSP-DMHA), or
  • Certified Peer Recovery Coach (CPRC-A or CPRC – ICAADA)

  • Valid driver’s license and required insurance
