About the Role
The position is a 0.6 FTE Consultant Nephrologist position to be Lead Physician for Kidney Transplantation at SVHM Nephrology Service.
- Involvement with the clinical program in the Department of Nephrology through involvement in nephrology ward service and outpatient clinics (especially kidney transplant assessment and post kidney transplant clinics)
- Provide clinical leadership for the kidney transplantation program within the SVHM nephrology service, ensuring delivery of high-quality, evidence-based and patient-centred care.
- Lead and coordinate the multidisciplinary management of kidney transplant recipients across inpatient, outpatient and outreach settings.
- Foster collaborative working relationships with transplant surgeons, nephrologists, nursing, allied health, pathology, immunology and referring health services.
Specialist Year 1 – Specialist Year 9 (HM33 – HM41) (Full Time), (HN19 – HN59) (Fractional)
Your Contribution
- MBBS or equivalent.
- Vocational registration with specialist qualification as a Consultant Physician (FRACP or equivalent specialist recognition as provided for under the Health Insurance Act 1973).
- AHPRA registration as a specialist medical practitioner.
- Indemnification with a recognised/approved medical defence association.
- Demonstrate relevant knowledge and experience in Nephrology
- Experience in kidney transplantation
- Current National criminal history check, or willing to obtain

About Nephrology
St Vincent’s Hospital Melbourne (SVHM) Nephrology Service provides care for patients across the entire spectrum of kidney disease, including all stages of chronic kidney disease and kidney failure, including dialysis, kidney transplantation, nephrology supportive care and general nephrology. The transplant program includes kidney transplantation and islet cell transplantation program (the latter which is a State Service for the treatment of selected patients with type1 diabetes).
