About The Role

Description

PURPOSE

The Security Officer is responsible for protecting Medina Healthcare System (MHS) property, patients, visitors, and staff by maintaining a safe and secure environment. This role includes patrolling facilities, monitoring activity, enforcing policies, responding to emergencies, and supporting crime prevention efforts. The Security Officer serves as a visible presence to deter unsafe or unlawful behavior while providing exceptional customer service and assistance.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Security & Patrol Operations

  • Patrol and monitor hospital premises regularly to deter criminal activity and ensure a safe and secure environment.
  • Control access points and monitor the entrance and departure of employees, visitors, and vehicles in accordance with established protocols.
  • Secure facilities by locking doors and identifying vulnerabilities.

Safety & Incident Response

  • Respond promptly to incidents, safety concerns, and security breaches.
  • Assist with emergency evacuations and provide basic first aid as needed.
  • Evict trespassers or violators in accordance with legal and organizational guidelines.
  • Report traffic, safety, and security violations to appropriate authorities.

Reporting & Documentation

  • Prepare detailed and accurate incident, offense, and accident reports for internal use and potential legal documentation.
  • Document and report facility issues (e.g., leaks, equipment malfunctions, lighting concerns) identified during patrols.

Customer Service & Support

  • Provide guidance, directions, and assistance to patients, visitors, and staff.
  • Assist individuals with vehicle issues such as lockouts or disabled vehicles.
  • Provide escorts for employees, visitors, and special transports as needed.

Collaboration & Compliance

  • Enforce Medina Healthcare System policies and procedures.
  • Assist and cooperate with local law enforcement and emergency response agencies.

Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS (Education and Experience)

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Minimum of three to six months of related experience or training required; one (1) year of security experience preferred.
  • Formal security training preferred.
  • Valid Texas Driver’s License required.
  • Must obtain hospital-provided Level II Non-Commissioned Security Officer License upon hire.
  • Basic knowledge of security operations, safety practices, and emergency response procedures preferred.

Ability to effectively communicate and interact with diverse populations in a healthcare setting.
