About The Role
About the role The Health Insurance Access Manager is responsible for supporting the development and execution of market access strategies across the Gulf region. The role focuses on navigating reimbursement and funding pathways within health insurance systems, including private insurers, employer funded schemes and government funded programs across United Arab Emirates, Qatar, Kuwait, Oman and Bahrain. Working in close partnership with country teams and cross functional stakeholders, the role shapes payer engagement, provides health financing insights and supports access strategies to enable timely and sustainable patient access across the GSK portfolio. With regional scope and high visibility, this role plays an important part in strengthening access execution within insurance systems and supporting long term access positioning across Gulf healthcare markets. Key responsibilities Health insurance access strategy and execution Support the development and execution of access strategies across health insurance funding systems, ensuring effective reimbursement pathways for the GSK portfolio. Navigate reimbursement environments to support timely and sustainable access to innovative therapies. Payer engagement and relationship management Build and maintain relationships with insurers, third party administrators, employer funded schemes and other relevant stakeholders across funding systems. Develop structured engagement frameworks and interaction models with payer organizations across medical, claims and policy functions. Develop effective working relationships with insurance medical and claims departments to support access optimization. Reimbursement facilitation and access optimization Support formulary inclusion, coding and reimbursement processes across insurance systems. Identify and help address access barriers, including rejected claims and reimbursement challenges, by coordinating with internal and external stakeholders. Act as a point of contact for internal teams in resolving patient access and reimbursement issues with payers. Liaise with relevant internal teams (for example patient support or affordability programs) to support appropriate patient access solutions where applicable. Health financing expertise and system insights Develop a strong understanding of healthcare financing models, payer and provider dynamics and reimbursement mechanisms. Translate system level insights into practical access recommendations. Market intelligence and insights Monitor changes in insurance frameworks, reimbursement policies and funding models. Assess the potential impact on the GSK portfolio and highlight risks and opportunities. Provide regular updates and insights to internal stakeholders on health insurance market developments. Strategic partnerships, education and capability building Support identification of collaboration opportunities with payer organizations to enhance access pathways. Deliver value based and scientific engagement with payer stakeholders in line with GSK compliance requirements. Identify knowledge gaps within payer organizations and support appropriate educational engagement. Contribute to building fit for purpose local capabilities and sharing good practices in health insurance access. Cross functional collaboration Provide input into brand plans, access strategies and launch readiness activities across therapy areas. Work closely with Market Access, Government Affairs, Medical and Marketing to support aligned execution. Analytics and insights translation Analyze payer dynamics, reimbursement trends and access challenges. Contribute to insights and recommendations that support access and business objectives. Basic qualifications Bachelor’s degree in pharmacy, Life Sciences, Economics, Business or a related field. Minimum five to seven years of experience in health insurance, healthcare financing, payer organizations or related roles. Experience within insurance companies, third party administrators or government funded insurance programs is strongly preferred. Good understanding of reimbursement processes, coverage policies and payer decision making within health insurance systems. Experience within Gulf Cooperation Council healthcare and payer environments. Preferred qualifications Advanced degree such as Master of Business Administration, Master of Public Health, Health Economics or similar. Experience working with health insurers, payer organizations or healthcare financing systems. Strong understanding of reimbursement, coding and access frameworks. Experience managing cross functional initiatives. Key competencies Strong health insurance system expertise. Strategic thinking with focus on execution.
