DISTINGUISHING FEATURES OF WORK

  • This position is responsible for operating assigned vehicles and assisting staff in performing various repairs.

  • Operates a variety of vehicles to transport equipment and materials.
  • Operates equipment, hand tools, and power tools in performing various labor tasks in an assigned area.
  • Assists staff in performing sewer, water main, and related repairs.
  • Cleans and maintains vehicles, tools, and related equipment.
  • Demonstrates regular and predictable attendance, including attendance at required meetings.

Qualifications

EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING

High School Diploma or equivalent (G.E.D.); related experience preferred; or, an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above.

LICENSING REQUIREMENTS

  • Valid State of Michigan Commercial Driver’s License Class A with Air Brake Endorsement
  • Applicants hired without a Michigan CDL A License will be hired as a Public Works Technician, and must receive their Michigan CDL A License within 6 months from date of hire to remain employed.

DURATION OF LIST

This list will be in effect for a period of six months.

POST-EMPLOYMENT OFFER REQUIREMENTS

  • Satisfactory completion of medical examination, driving record check, and criminal background check prior to start date.
  • All appointees are subject to a one-year probationary period.
