Surgery Appointment Veterinary Assistant

Upstate Veterinary Specialties is seeking a dedicated, detail-oriented Surgery Appointment Assistant to support our surgical team and help deliver exceptional patient and client care. What You’ll Do

• Safely restrain patients using low-stress handling techniques
• Obtain and document accurate patient histories
• Review referral records, diagnostics, and imaging
• Coordinate scheduling and support daily surgical workflow
• Admit and discharge patients according to hospital protocols
• Communicate clearly and compassionately with clients
• Prepare estimates, enter charges, and ensure accurate invoicing
• Assist with diagnostic testing and recheck appointments
• Support operating room setup, patient preparation, and anesthetic induction
• Maintain aseptic technique and organized surgical spaces
• Collaborate with surgical and specialty teams for seamless care

What We’re Looking For

Experience

• Minimum of 1 year in a veterinary assistant role
• Surgical experience preferred

Skills & Qualifications

• Proficiency in canine and feline handling and restraint
• Strong knowledge of veterinary terminology and procedures
• Excellent communication and client service skills
• High attention to detail and strong organizational abilities
• Ability to multitask and prioritize in a fast-paced environment
• Calm, professional demeanor under pressure
• Team-oriented with the ability to work independently
• Reliable, punctual, and committed to high standards of care

Schedule Options

• Monday – Thursday: 7:00 AM – 5:30 PM
• Tuesday – Friday: 7:30 AM – 6:00 PM
