The Role

Seeking an experienced attorney who is an effective negotiator, a strategic planner, business enabler, and has willingness to learn and adapt as the business and legal landscapes evolve. Job responsibilities include but are not limited to:

Commercial Contracts

Draft, review, and negotiate complex commercial agreements on behalf of multiple and diverse stakeholders while maintaining accountability, attention to detail, and organization in a fast-paced environment.

Build and enhance contractual framework, update templates on timely basis to align with new laws, rules, regulations, and legislation, and ensure consistency with global requirements.

Manage and enhance the contract management system and design and implement process improvement at large.

Compliance and Ethics

Work with colleagues on the global compliance and ethics team within the global legal department to support readiness and ongoing compliance with new legislation, regulations, and regulatory guidance. Help drive a culture of compliance and ethics across India consistent with our corporate Code of Conduct including by assisting with aligning contract standards with corporate policies, procedures, and standards, and helping to ensure that compliance concerns, data incidents, and data and company subject requests are timely escalated and evaluated in accordance with global corporate protocols.

Enterprise Risk Management: Identify significant corporate risks in business matters, operations, and processes and work with the business to develop appropriate mitigation measures.

Advisory: Advise on a broad range of matters to advance the strategic, operational, and legal priorities of the company. Provide practical legal advice in a variety of areas including but not limited to commercial and corporate transactions, product development, protection of corporate assets (including intellectual property protection), HR matters, and corporate governance as needed.

Key objectives of the role

Protecting the Franchise, by negotiating agreements in accordance with our contracting standards and risk tolerance thresholds, protecting our intellectual property, implementing best practices and procedures, conducting training, raising awareness across the organization, and ensuring collaboration and teamwork both within India and across the global organization and legal team to ensure we are a “best practice” organization.

Growing the Franchise, ensuring customer growth and retention through effective negotiation and execution of commercial contracts, and supporting the business to bring products to market

Key requirements

Education

  • LL.B. /LLM Degree
  • Locally and/or globally recognized privacy certification preferred

Skills & Competencies

  • Strong written and oral communication skills in English;
  • Ability to understand and communicate legal concepts and analysis to a range of constituents, including business and technical team members, executives, partners, external counsel, and others.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, and experience effectively managing relationships with team members, external and internal stakeholders, customers, vendors, and senior leadership.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, meet competing deadlines, and work both independently and on teams
  • Ability to develop and implement processes and procedures as needed

Experience

  • 7-9 years of work experience as in-house counsel working independently or with minimal supervision handling variety of legal matters including commercial contracts, employee matters, data privacy compliances etc.

Key Responsibilities

Advisory

Key Requirements

  • LL.B./LL.M. degree with a preferred locally or globally recognized privacy certification
  • -
  • 7–9 years of in-house legal experience, independently handling diverse matters including commercial contracts, employment issues, and data privacy compliance
  • -
  • Strong written and verbal English skills, with the ability to simplify and communicate complex legal concepts to business, technical, and executive stakeholders

  • Excellent interpersonal skills with a track record of managing relationships across internal teams, external partners, vendors, and senior leadership

  • Proven ability to manage multiple priorities, meet tight deadlines, and work effectively both independently and collaboratively

  • Skilled in developing, implementing, and enhancing processes and procedures to improve efficiency and compliance
