**Join Our Team as an Associate Counselor!**

The Associate Counselor provides direct support to Hotline help seekers while completing practicum education requirements associated with an accredited Master of Social Work (MSW) program. This structured, compensated internship/practicum offers hands-on experience in crisis intervention, support services, and professional social work practice. Associate Counselors work scheduled hotline shifts and complete learning contract/plan activities designed to support academic objectives and Childhelp Hotline service needs. The position provides practical experience under established policies, procedures, and supervisory guidance while fostering the development of professional social work competencies.

**What You'll Do:**

  • Provide direct service through assigned hotline shifts in accordance with program expectations and organizational standards.
  • Complete practicum learning contract/plan activities as required by the academic institution and practicum program.
  • Participate in assigned hotline-related projects and other duties that support Hotline and practicum objectives.
  • Maintain compliance with all Childhelp policies, Hotline Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), and Practicum Handbook requirements.
  • Accurately document and report hours worked through established timekeeping procedures.
  • Participate in required training activities and professional development opportunities.
  • Demonstrate professionalism, reliability, and adherence to ethical standards of the social work profession.
  • Maintain satisfactory performance throughout the duration of the practicum program.

## Qualifications
**What You'll Bring:**

  • Must be in the second year of an accredited MSW program or enrolled in an Advanced Standing MSW program.
  • Must be participating in a practicum that requires a two-semester practicum placement.
  • Must be available to work both weekend days as a permanent schedule assignment.
  • Must commit to working through academic calendar breaks between semesters, as well as Fall and Spring breaks.
  • Must be available to work a minimum of 16 hours and a maximum of 28 hours per week, depending on semester length and program needs.
  • Basic understanding of social work principles, ethics, and professional standards.
  • Foundational knowledge of crisis intervention, supportive communication, and client-centered approaches, appropriate to academic education level.
  • Understanding of confidentiality requirements and professional boundaries.
  • Familiarity with the role of hotline services in supporting individuals and families in crisis, appropriate to academic education level.
  • Previous volunteer, internship, practicum, or work experience in human services, social services, crisis intervention, or related fields is preferred.
