Job Summary

Maintains safe and secure environment for patients and employees by patrolling and monitoring premises and personnel. EOE

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

1. Provide expertise in all campus / staff / patient concerns related to safety and security

• a) Maintain order within the facility and enforce hospital rules and regulations.
• b) Make suggestions / recommendations to supervisor to improve safety and security on campus.
• c) Assure all doors are locked as required and areas secured.
• d) Check out vehicles/persons that may not belong on campus and report accordingly.
• e) Conduct security patrols throughout campus.
• f) Proficient in video surveillance and reviewing of recorded tape, when required.
• g) Skilled and timely use of radio or telephone communication to police, fire or emergency agencies as the situation dictates.
• h) Proficient in the use of ECS radio system and telephone communication.
• i) Advises Security Director of deficiencies noted and suggests changes.
• j) Notify Director of all lights that need replacing.

1. Manning of the Security Booth

• a) Direct and monitor all visitors entering and leaving campus via the Visitor App
• b) Monitor CCTV inside the booth

1. Provide support and assistance to nursing supervisor on scheduled shift

• k) Assist with management of patient disturbances in conjunction with and/or at direction of Nursing Supervisor.
• l) Assist Police Officers when they are called to campus.
• m) Oversee Parole Officer’s removal of patients for violation.
• n) Obtain belongings and keys from Admissions’ safe for AMA/other discharge patients.
• o) Initiate search of patients / units / vehicles as needed.

1. Conduct fire drills as assigned and record results on forms provided; report deficiencies to the Security Director.
2. Provides shift summary to by email to defined mailing list.

Qualifications

Qualifications

• One to three years security experience required
• HS diploma / GED required
• Ability to communicate well with both patients and staff
• Ability to take charge in difficult situations and have good decision making skills
• Knowledge of safe working practices
