3rd shift Material Flow Operator

SUMMARY

  • Sets up and operates numerical control equipment to machine components to specifications by performing the following
  • duties. Satisfy SAs Quality goals and objectives in completion of activities or duties (reference Somic America Quality
  • Manual and Quality Policy).
  • ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

Safety

  • Maintain and provide a safe work area and work in a safe manner.
  • Report any unsafe conditions to Team Leader immediately.

Quality

  • Complete Hourly checks using In Process Check Sheets and Gaging to ensure parts meet Quality Specifications
  • Notifies Team Leader of any suspect material and helps to contain material line side.

Changeovers

  • Complete Changeovers using the Changeover Procedure.
  • Attaches fixture to machine bed and positions and secures work piece in fixture according to changeover instructions.
  • Fill in Change over checklist to ensure all changeover steps are complete.

Operation

  • Utilize AIM to transact material at final step of process.
  • Completes Standardized work in accordance to Work Instructions.
  • Removes material from boxes and places in fixture or on conveyor.
  • Observes and listens to machine operation to detect malfunctions such as worn or damaged cutting tools.
  • Manipulates controls and enters commands to index cutting tool to specified set point and to start machine. Offsets tool,
  • as required.
  • Measures and inspects parts for conformance to specifications/hourly checks, using in process sheets and gaging.
  • Notify Team Leader or Production Manager of any abnormal or unusual condition.
  • Assembles cutting tools in tool holders and positions tool holders in machine spindles as specified or inserts cutting tools
  • in specified machine magazines.
  • Changes cutting tools and location of work piece during machining process as specified in setup instructions.
  • Complete line PMs (planned maintenance) as assigned.
  • Submit kaizen suggestions for improvements.

  • EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
  • High School diploma or general education degree (GED).

LANGUAGE SKILLS

  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedures.
  • Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to other employees of the
  • organization.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and
  • decimals. Have the ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs and Statistical Process
  • Control (SPC) charts.

REASONING ABILITY

  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
  • Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
