About The Role
3rd shift Material Flow Operator
SUMMARY
- Sets up and operates numerical control equipment to machine components to specifications by performing the following
- duties. Satisfy SAs Quality goals and objectives in completion of activities or duties (reference Somic America Quality
- Manual and Quality Policy).
- ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Safety
- Maintain and provide a safe work area and work in a safe manner.
- Report any unsafe conditions to Team Leader immediately.
Quality
- Complete Hourly checks using In Process Check Sheets and Gaging to ensure parts meet Quality Specifications
- Notifies Team Leader of any suspect material and helps to contain material line side.
Changeovers
- Complete Changeovers using the Changeover Procedure.
- Attaches fixture to machine bed and positions and secures work piece in fixture according to changeover instructions.
- Fill in Change over checklist to ensure all changeover steps are complete.
Operation
- Utilize AIM to transact material at final step of process.
- Completes Standardized work in accordance to Work Instructions.
- Removes material from boxes and places in fixture or on conveyor.
- Observes and listens to machine operation to detect malfunctions such as worn or damaged cutting tools.
- Manipulates controls and enters commands to index cutting tool to specified set point and to start machine. Offsets tool,
- as required.
- Measures and inspects parts for conformance to specifications/hourly checks, using in process sheets and gaging.
- Notify Team Leader or Production Manager of any abnormal or unusual condition.
- Assembles cutting tools in tool holders and positions tool holders in machine spindles as specified or inserts cutting tools
- in specified machine magazines.
- Changes cutting tools and location of work piece during machining process as specified in setup instructions.
- Complete line PMs (planned maintenance) as assigned.
- Submit kaizen suggestions for improvements.

- EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
- High School diploma or general education degree (GED).
LANGUAGE SKILLS
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedures.
- Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to other employees of the
- organization.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and
- decimals. Have the ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs and Statistical Process
- Control (SPC) charts.
REASONING ABILITY
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
- Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
