Role Summary

The Fabrication Engineer will be responsible for planning, supervising, and executing fabrication shop activities to ensure timely project delivery, quality compliance, and cost control. The role involves close coordination with cross-functional teams and active supervision of shop floor personnel.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in planning and execution of fabrication shop activities to meet project timelines.
  • Supervise welders, fitters, and fabrication technicians to ensure productivity and schedule adherence.
  • Interpret fabrication drawings, technical specifications, and welding procedures (WPS, PQR, etc.).
  • Coordinate with Design, Quality, Procurement, and Project teams for smooth workflow.
  • Ensure compliance with quality standards, safety guidelines, and company procedures.
  • Monitor material utilization and welding consumables to minimize waste and control costs.
  • Support implementation of lean manufacturing practices to improve efficiency and reduce downtime.
  • Track daily production progress and report updates to Management
  • Verify materials as per Bill of Materials (BOM) and ensure availability of tools, jigs, and fixtures.
  • Assist in internal quality checks, third-party inspections, and closure of Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs).
  • Provide training and technical guidance to shop floor personnel on fabrication techniques and safety practices.

Key Skills & Technical Requirements

  • Diploma / B.E. / BTech in Mech/ Elec Engineering or related discipline.
  • 3–6 years of relevant experience in fabrication (industrial/structural/mechanical sectors preferred).
  • Good knowledge of fabrication processes and welding methods (SMAW, TIG, MIG).
  • Understanding of relevant standards such as ASME, AWS, and IS.
  • Ability to read and interpret fabrication/shop drawings, P&ID and blueprints.
  • Experience in shop floor coordination, manpower supervision, and material handling.
  • Strong communication, coordination, and problem-solving skills.
  • Knowledge of safety practices and risk assessment in fabrication environments.

Minimum Expectations

  • Proficiency in MS Office (Excel, Word, basic reporting).
  • Good communication skills.
  • Strong basic engineering fundamentals.
  • Language proficiency: Kannada, Hindi, and English.
  • Exposure to reading and understanding P&ID drawings.
