About The Role
Job Summary: Plan Approval Manager is responsible for leading and coordinating the plan review process for LNGCs and VLGCs. This role requires a deep understanding of gas carrier technologies, regulations, and best practices. The engineer will collaborate with stakeholders, evaluate designs, and ensure compliance with project specifications and industry standards. Roles & Responsibilities: 1. Plan Review and Coordination: Lead and manage the plan review process for LNGCs and VLGCs. Coordinate review activities with internal and external stakeholders. 2. Technical Expertise: Provide technical guidance and support throughout the design process. Evaluate designs, plans, drawings, and technical specifications for compliance with project requirements and regulations. 3. Risk Assessment: Participate in risk assessment activities to identify and mitigate potential design issues. 4. Problem Solving: Identify and address design challenges, proposing innovative solutions and improvements. 5. Stakeholder Management: Collaborate effectively with internal and external stakeholders, including shipyards, classification societies, and clients. 6. Yard and Maker Selection: Lead or participate in the selection of shipyards and equipment manufacturers. 7. Industry Knowledge: Stay updated on advancements in gas carrier technologies, industry best practices, and regulatory changes. Qualifications 1. Bachelor's degree in Marine Engineering 2. Minimum 2+ years of experience as Chief Engineer aboard a gas carrier 3. Minimum 2+ years of experience as a technical interface with a shipyard during the design review phase of a gas carrier shipbuilding contract 4. Proven experience in plan approval, approval coordination, or a similar role in marine or shipbuilding 5. Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English 6. Strong computer skills (MS Office, SharePoint, AutoCAD) 7. Experience with gas carrier design and construction (5+ years preferred) 8. Experience with a Class Society, Ship Owner/Manager, or Charterer (preferred) 9. Experience with newbuilding site supervision, shipbuilding contract negotiation, and gas carrier repair/upgrade (preferred) Desired Skills: 1. In-depth knowledge of gas carrier regulations and standards 2. Proficiency in relevant design software 3. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills 4. Ability to work independently and as part of a team 5. Excellent project management and organizational skills
