Job Description (JD) – AGM Central Purchase (BESS – Sheet Metal) Position Title Assistant General Manager (AGM) – Central Purchase (BESS – Sheet Metal) Department Procurement / Supply Chain Management Location Kolkata / Corporate Office Reporting To Head – Supply Chain / Procurement Job Summary The AGM – Central Purchase (BESS – Sheet Metal) will be responsible for strategic sourcing, vendor development, procurement planning, cost optimization, and supply management related to sheet metal components used in Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS). The role involves handling techno-commercial procurement activities, supplier negotiations, inventory coordination, and ensuring timely availability of materials as per project and production requirements. Key Responsibilities Procurement & Sourcing Handle end-to-end procurement of sheet metal components, fabricated enclosures, cabinets, busbar supports, structural assemblies, and related materials for BESS projects. Develop and implement centralized purchasing strategies for cost optimization and standardization. Source vendors for laser cutting, CNC bending, powder coating, fabrication, and sheet metal assemblies. Float RFQs, analyze quotations, conduct techno-commercial evaluations, and finalize vendors. Vendor Management Develop and maintain a robust vendor base for sheet metal and fabrication suppliers. Conduct supplier audits, performance evaluations, and capacity assessments. Negotiate pricing, delivery schedules, payment terms, and annual rate contracts. Ensure vendor compliance with quality, EHS, and organizational standards. Cost Optimization Drive value engineering and cost reduction initiatives. Monitor raw material price trends (CRCA, GI, Aluminum, Copper, Stainless Steel, etc.). Identify alternate vendors and materials without compromising quality. Coordination & Planning Coordinate with design, production, planning, projects, and quality teams for procurement schedules. Ensure timely material availability to avoid production delays. Track procurement status and maintain MIS reports. Quality & Compliance Ensure procured materials meet technical specifications and quality standards. Resolve supplier quality issues in coordination with QA/QC teams. Maintain documentation related to purchase orders, contracts, and compliance records. ERP & Documentation Work on ERP systems such as SAP, Oracle, or similar procurement platforms. Prepare procurement MIS, monthly reports, and budgeting data. Monitor inventory levels and optimize stock availability. Required Qualifications Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical / Electrical / Production Engineering. MBA / PGDM in Supply Chain or Materials Management preferred. Experience Required 12–18 years of experience in procurement/purchase functions. Strong experience in sheet metal sourcing and fabrication procurement. Experience in BESS, Electrical Panels, EV, Power Electronics, Renewable Energy, or EPC industries preferred. Exposure to centralized procurement operations and strategic sourcing.
