Underwriting Team Leader

POSITION TITLE : U NDERWRITING TEAM LEADER REPORTS TO : UNDERWRITING HEAD DIRECTLY SUPERVISES : JUNIOR AND SENIOR UNDERWRITERS UNIT / DEPARTMENT : UNDERWRITING DIVISION/GROUP : BUSINESS LENDING OPERATIONS / BUSINESS BANKING SEGMENT JOB SUMMARY The Underwriting Team Leader oversees the day-to-day operations and administrative activities of the unit. This includes reviewing credit verification reports, income documents and underwriting recommendations. The role ensures the delivery of sound credit decisions for all loan applications within the agreed turnaround time. PRINCIPAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES Monitors the daily productivity of assigned underwriter/s for supervision. Prepares regular reports on team performance, CAR, TAT and deviation threshold compliance. Provides sound recommendations and/or credit decisions on business loans products. Trains, mentors, motivates and disciplines subordinates to improve, develop and retain high potential and high-performing employees. Ensures compliance with policies and procedures and recommends amendments or enhancements, as necessary. It is accepted and understood that the employee may perform other related tasks which may be assigned from time to time. JOB QUALIFICATIONS Years of Work Experience : 5 - 10 years Educational Attainment / Required course (if applicable): Bachelor's Degree in Business Studies/ Administration/Management, Finance/Accountancy/Banking Required Certification/Professional License (if applicable): N/A Field of Specialization (if applicable): Banking and Finance, Corporate Finance/Investment, Credit Knowledge and Skills Requirements: Strong leadership and people management skills Knowledge in credit and underwriting process Financial analysis Effective oral & written communication, including presentation skills MS Office Application
