Job Summary

This role is responsible for ensuring regulatory compliance of wireless technologies across HP’s printer product portfolio, with primary focus on Wi Fi module compliance, certification readiness and regulatory governance.

The engineer will work closely with firmware, hardware, quality and regulatory stakeholders to support product certification, monitor field performance, manage regulatory requirements and drive compliance efficiencies through technical expertise and continuous process improvements. The role serves as a key interface between engineering teams, regulatory organizations, certification agencies, and test laboratories to ensure products meet global wireless regulatory requirements and maintain market access.

Key Responsibilities

Wi Fi Compliance & Certification

  • Lead validation of RF power levels and frequency configurations for Wi Fi modules across global regulatory domains (e.g., FCC, ISED Canada, Japan, EU and other applicable markets).
  • Coordinate with chipset vendors, wireless module suppliers and internal engineering teams to establish and validate wireless certification configurations and power tables.
  • Review and approve WLAN power configurations for New Product Introduction (NPI) programs to ensure compliance with regional regulatory requirements.
  • Interpret wireless regulatory requirements and support engineering teams in developing compliance strategies, test plans, and certification approaches.

Documentation & Regulatory Submissions

  • Prepare and maintain wireless compliance documentation, technical files, declarations, and certification packages required for in-country approvals and market access.
  • Support creation and maintenance of regulatory compliance records, certification reports, declarations of conformity, and supporting evidence packages.
  • Maintain compliance documentation to support audits, regulatory reviews, and ongoing certification activities.

Regulatory Testing & Qualification Support

  • Coordinate wireless regulatory testing activities with internal teams and external test laboratories.
  • Support testing activities covering wireless technologies and regulatory requirements, including RF power validation and wireless certification testing.
  • Investigate test failures, certification issues, and compliance risks in collaboration with firmware, hardware, and wireless engineering teams.

Field Performance Monitoring

Support analysis of field-reported wireless issues and performance data when required to investigate potential compliance, configuration, or certification-related concerns

Regulatory Governance & Process Improvement

  • Support development of technical regulatory governance processes, tracking mechanisms, and operational dashboards.
  • Track regulatory changes, certification status, timelines, and compliance risks across programs.
  • Drive process standardization, operational efficiency, and improved visibility across technical regulatory activities.

Cross Functional Collaboration

  • Work closely with firmware, hardware, quality, manufacturing, and regulatory stakeholders to support compliance objectives and product launches.
  • Collaborate with wireless technology partners, certification agencies, and test laboratories to support certification schedules and issue resolution.
  • Participate in wireless technical reviews, compliance discussions, and governance forums to provide technical recommendations and regulatory guidance.

Education

  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in electrical engineering, Telecommunications Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related engineering discipline.
  • Preferred Skills & Competencies
  • Understanding of wireless communication technologies, including Wi Fi protocols and wireless system architectures.
  • Knowledge of RF fundamentals, wireless certification concepts, telecommunications regulations, or EMC principles.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities with the ability to interpret technical data and drive corrective actions.
  • Ability to work effectively across cross-functional and global teams.
  • Strong communication skills and the capability to communicate technical information to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Familiarity with telemetry systems, reporting dashboards, and engineering performance analysis is a plus.

Bonus / Differentiators

  • Exposure to wireless regulatory frameworks such as FCC, ISED Canada, EU RED, TELEC, or equivalent global wireless regulations.
  • Experience supporting certification activities, regulatory submissions, or telecommunications compliance projects.
  • Experience leveraging telemetry and analytics for product quality, reliability, or compliance monitoring.
  • Knowledge of regulatory governance, compliance tracking, and process improvement methodologies.
