The internship will be a general Finance internship that will provide an opportunity to work in the Corporate Planning & Analysis function of American Express Finance.
This internship position will be based in Phoenix, AZ.
How will you make an impact in this role?
All interns receive a project solving a real business challenge for the organization. The project will include
- Providing best-in-class analysis and decision support to the Finance organization
- Learning how to articulate decisions clearly and gain buy-in from stakeholders across the business
- Gathering and analyzing information from a wide array of sources; identifying trends and articulating how those trends impact our business
- Obtaining a comprehensive understanding of the business and its needs
- Honing analytical acumen, communication skills, and the ability to tailor complex messages to the appropriate audience
Minimum Qualifications
- Currently enrolled in a full-time bachelor’s degree program
- Students must have a graduation date between December 2027 and June 2028
Preferred Qualifications
- Ability to analyze and manipulate large amounts of data, spot trends, generate meaningful insights and develop recommendations to drive growth
- Strategic thought leadership and creativity in synthesizing data into an easy-to-understand story and articulate key messages across multiple audiences
- A strong work-ethic, positive attitude, and highly motivated self-starter with robust interpersonal skills, adapting to change and showcasing the ability to build trust-based relationships within the Finance team and with business partners across locations / geographies
- Acting and leading with courage, making decisions quickly, initiating and driving change management processes
- Programming skills a plus
