The Engine Dynamics and Loads (ED&L) Commercial Engines team is seeking a Structural Engineer II to support development engine and on-wing commercial engine programs. The position will work closely with the Systems Engineering and Aftermarket Engine Services communities.

What You Will Do

  • Execute structural analyses under the direction of experienced engineers
  • Evaluate engineering changes for acceptable structural and system dynamic impacts
  • Support engine test with predictions and monitoring
  • Conduct test data analysis, trending, and diagnosis
  • Review reports of vibration in fielded engines and support the approval of hardware for continued safe operation
  • Assist in root cause investigation and disposition of abnormal vibration and loads events
  • Identify opportunities for automation and error-proofing in analysis processes
  • Collaborate with peers and RTX colleagues on tool improvements to reduce analysis time and mistake-proof existing methods
  • Travel

What You Will Learn

  • This position is a part of our Engineering Development Program (EDP). EDP participants will complete three to four rotations to build technical breadth and leadership abilities before graduating from the program.

Qualifications You Must Have

  • Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related STEM field; or a Bachelor’s degree in these fields with 2 years of related experience. Degree must be obtained by the start date.
  • Experience with structural engineering fundamentals including load calculations and vibrations
  • Minimum 3.0 Cumulative GPA

Experience may be obtained through on-the-job experience, research, coursework, or projects.

Qualifications We Prefer

  • Prior RTX internship, co-op, or work experience
  • Demonstrated experience with aerospace structural load or vibratory analysis
  • Experience collaborating effectively within team environments.

Onsite: Employees who are working in Onsite roles will work primarily onsite. This includes all production and maintenance employees, as they are essential to the development of our products.

The salary range for this role is 68,900 USD - 131,100 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
