About The Role

About the Team

At Avride, we design and build cutting-edge hardware for self-driving cars and autonomous delivery robots. Our mission is to create reliable, intelligent systems that connect seamlessly with our autonomous platforms — ensuring safety, scalability, and innovation on every level.

About the Role

  • We are looking for a hands-on Electrical Design Engineer to join our Hardware Design team developing next-generation delivery robots.
  • This is a role for an engineer who enjoys the full cycle — from electrical architecture and system design to integration, validation, and manufacturing support.

What You'll Do

  • Develop and maintain system-level electrical documentation (Power, Network, and Connection Diagrams).
  • Design and document 12V / 48V power distribution systems, including protection, grounding, and redundancy.
  • Define and maintain interfaces between compute units, controllers, sensors, and actuators.
  • Integrate and validate automotive and industrial communication networks — CAN, Ethernet (both *BaseT and *BaseT1), RS-485, Modbus, IO-Link, and discrete I/O
  • Develop custom vehicle harnesses for future Avride vehicles.
  • Create 3D routing within evolving vehicle architecture (AutoCad Electrical)
  • Create 2D harness layouts and drawings (EPLAN)
  • Select harness components including terminals, connectors, wire types/sizes, and coverings.
  • Negotiate routing and attachment locations within the evolving vehicle environment.
  • Prepare and release production-ready harness and interconnect documentation (pinouts, routing data, connection tables).
  • Collaborate with Mechanical, Embedded, and Manufacturing teams to ensure design integrity and serviceability.
  • Interact with partner to co-develop or inform their vehicle wiring architecture.
  • Support prototype builds, troubleshooting, and system validation during testing.

What You'll Need

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
  • 3–6 years of experience in automotive, robotics, or industrial automation.
  • Strong understanding of DC power distribution, grounding, and protection principles.
  • Working knowledge of automotive and industrial communication protocols.
  • Proficiency with EPLAN, SolidWorks Electrical, or similar ECAD tools.
  • Experience creating production-ready documentation and collaborating with suppliers or contract manufacturers.
  • Solid problem-solving and diagnostic skills during integration and testing.
  • Excellent teamwork and communication in a fast-paced, cross-functional environment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Familiarity with high-speed Ethernet (10GBaseSR, 10GBaseT1) and network redundancy.
  • Understanding of EMC, shielding, and grounding for mixed-signal systems.
  • Experience with solid-state switching, relays, and e-fuses for low-voltage systems.
  • Hands-on experience in prototype builds, integration, or field validation.
  • If you’re ready to work on the technology that powers tomorrow’s mobility — we’d love to meet you.
  • Candidates are required to be authorized to work in the U.S. The employer is not offering relocation sponsorship, and remote work options are not available.
