About The Role
Under the direction of the Superintendent of Maintenance or designate, the Mechanic performs comprehensive maintenance and repair work on Pace vehicles. Responsibilities include:
- performing preventive maintenance inspections,
- Diagnosing, troubleshooting, and performing general repairs on all company vehicles and equipment.
- Removing and replacing all units and rebuilding small components.
- Making service calls,
- Completing all required documents,
- Accounting for all materials used in accordance with the work order system.
- Performing Foreman's duties as needed.
- Performing other duties as assigned or required.
Qualifications
Age
21+.
Education
High school diploma or equivalency.
Experience
Must have at least three (3) years' previous diesel/gas experience and/or technical training and possess a good work history.
Certifications
- Must attend Pace's examination for position.
- Must have or obtain within 30 days of being hired, a valid "A" Commercial Driver's license with passenger and air brake endorsements.
- Must possess air conditioning certification.
Proficiencies
- Must have or purchase a complete set of hand tools sufficient for performing the duties of the position.
- Must be able to operate all company equipment and have knowledge of the service area.
- Must have the ability to read and follow blueprints, schematics, and maintenance manuals and to operate test equipment.
Physical Requirements
- Must be capable of lifting 75 pounds to waist height, maintaining and carrying that weight for a minimum of ten feet.
- This is a safety sensitive position.
Working Conditions
The performance of these duties may be required 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year. Work is performed in a shop environment, where the employee may be exposed to loud noises and noxious odors and other environmental conditions.
This position is not eligible for hybrid schedule or telecommuting.
Salary
$34.64/hr
BENEFITS SUMMARY
This is a bargained for position (Union) subject to the terms of a Collective Bargaining Agreement.
