Mechanic

Under the direction of the Superintendent of Maintenance or designate, the Mechanic performs comprehensive maintenance and repair work on Pace vehicles. Responsibilities include:

• performing preventive maintenance inspections,
• Diagnosing, troubleshooting, and performing general repairs on all company vehicles and equipment.
• Removing and replacing all units and rebuilding small components.
• Making service calls,
• Completing all required documents,
• Accounting for all materials used in accordance with the work order system.
• Performing Foreman's duties as needed.
• Performing other duties as assigned or required.

Qualifications

Age

21+.

Education

High school diploma or equivalency.

Experience

Must have at least three (3) years' previous diesel/gas experience and/or technical training and possess a good work history.

Certifications

• Must attend Pace's examination for position.
• Must have or obtain within 30 days of being hired, a valid "A" Commercial Driver's license with passenger and air brake endorsements.
• Must possess air conditioning certification.

Proficiencies

• Must have or purchase a complete set of hand tools sufficient for performing the duties of the position.
• Must be able to operate all company equipment and have knowledge of the service area.
• Must have the ability to read and follow blueprints, schematics, and maintenance manuals and to operate test equipment.

Physical Requirements

• Must be capable of lifting 75 pounds to waist height, maintaining and carrying that weight for a minimum of ten feet.
• This is a safety sensitive position.

Working Conditions

The performance of these duties may be required 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year. Work is performed in a shop environment, where the employee may be exposed to loud noises and noxious odors and other environmental conditions.

This position is not eligible for hybrid schedule or telecommuting.

Salary

$34.64/hr
