CITB is seeking a dynamic and experienced Health & Safety Lecturer to deliver high-impact training and qualifications to our adult commercial learners.
Role: Lecturer H&S
Hours of Work: Full-time
Contract: Permanent
Grade: SC4
Target Salary: £53,303 per annum
Additional Benefits: Car Allowance £6,799
Special Requirements: The post holder will be eligible for either a company car or a car allowance in line with the grade for this role, subject to the vehicle nominated for business use complying with CITB’s Car Policy.

About the Role
As a key member of our teaching team, you will
- Lead curriculum teams to embed Ofsted EIF/SDS standards into everyday practice
- Support new vocational instructors and assessors through induction and probation
- Provide tailored coaching for colleagues identified through teaching observations
- Conduct Learning Walks to monitor and enhance teaching quality
- Participate in quality reviews and Desk Top Evaluations
- Deliver impactful CPD sessions to teaching teams
- Develop and deliver engaging Personal Development lessons
- Liaise with Awarding Bodies and End Point Assessment Organisations
- Plan and deliver practical and theory lessons aligned with industry standards
- Create inclusive and high-quality teaching resources
- Use diagnostic assessments to tailor individual learning support
- Provide constructive feedback to learners to drive improvement
- Track learner progress using our Learner Management System
- Support learners in developing English, maths, digital, and personal skills
- Collaborate with Apprenticeship Development Coaches during learner reviews
- Implement strategies to support learners at risk of falling behind
- Build strong relationships with industry professionals and stakeholders
- Stay current with teaching methodologies through workshops and training
- Model positive behaviours and attitudes to learners and colleagues
- The successful applicant must demonstrate a high level of integrity and professionalism, be able to work independently and manage their own diary
Essential Qualifications: To deliver the Site Safety Plus suite of courses, trainers must hold at least one of the following:
- NEBOSH Health and Safety Management for Construction (UK)
- NEBOSH National Certificate in Construction Safety and Health
- NEBOSH Diploma in Occupational Safety and Health
- Level 3 (S)NVQ in Occupational Safety and Health
- Level 4 Health and Safety Management for Construction (UK)
- NEBOSH National Diploma in Occupational Health and Safety
- Diploma Safety Management Level 6
- NCRQ in Occupational Health and Safety level 6
For new trainers, a current certificate at or above the level of the SSP course the trainer is delivering must have been achieved. For existing active trainers, there is no requirement to have a current SSP course achievement but must have demonstrable CPD records in lieu of a current course certificate.
Additional Qualifications Required
- A formal teaching/training qualification, equivalent to a Level 3 Award in education and training (AET)
- Level 5 teaching qualification (or willingness to achieve within two years)
- Hold a Level 2 qualification or higher in English and maths or demonstrate proficiency at Level 2 or above through a recognised assessment in both subjects.
Essential Skills and Experience
- Trainers for the Site Safety Plus suite of courses must be able to demonstrate a minimum of three years occupational experience in a construction management role, through a verifiable CV. This means the CV must demonstrate the level of responsibility held by the applicant within a management role commensurate with the course(s) they wish to deliver. For the avoidance of doubt, experience must demonstrate accountability for site health and safety or site management/supervision.
- Excellent knowledge of current industry practices
- Evidence of continuous professional development
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Excellent organisational and digital skills (Microsoft Office 365)
Desirable Criteria
- Higher-level construction-related qualification
- Higher-level education-related qualification
- Experience of apprenticeship delivery
