About The Role
The CETL Director will provide strategic leadership and direction to advance teaching excellence, innovative pedagogy, and student-centered learning across UKB. The Director will work collaboratively with faculty, administrators, and stakeholders to enhance teaching practices, promote the use of technology in education, and support the professional development UKB teaching community. This role is pivotal in positioning the University of Kalba as a leader in transformative teaching and learning.
Strategic Leadership
- Develop and implement a strategic vision for the CETL that aligns with the university’s mission and goals.
- Promote a culture of teaching excellence, innovation, and continuous improvement across the university.
- Provide leadership in advancing teaching methodologies, pedagogies, and the scholarship of teaching and learning.
Faculty Development
- Collaborate with academic departments, deans, and other stakeholders to identify and address faculty development needs.
- Design and deliver professional development programs, workshops, and resources to enhance teaching effectiveness and pedagogical innovation.
- Provide mentorship and support to faculty in adopting evidence-based teaching practices.
Curriculum Innovation
- Collaborate with academic departments to integrate innovative teaching methods, active learning strategies, and technology-enhanced learning into the curriculum.
- Support the development of inclusive and accessible teaching practices to meet the needs of diverse learners.
Research and Scholarship
- Encourage and support research on teaching and learning, including the scholarship of teaching and learning (SoTL) and Scholarship of Educational Leadership (SoEL).
- Disseminate best practices and findings to the broader academic community.
Technology Integration
- Lead initiatives to integrate emerging educational technologies and digital tools into teaching and learning.
- Stay abreast of emerging trends in educational technology and pedagogy.
Collaboration and Outreach
- Build partnerships with internal and external stakeholders to advance teaching and learning initiatives.
- Represent the CETL at conferences, workshops, and other academic forums.
Assessment and Evaluation
- Develop and implement assessment strategies to evaluate the effectiveness of teaching and learning initiatives.
- Use data-driven insights to inform continuous improvement efforts.
Education
- A terminal degree (Ph.D., Ed.D., or equivalent) in education, instructional design, or a related field.
Experience
- A minimum of 10 years of experience in higher education, with a strong background in teaching, faculty development, and educational leadership.
- Proven track record of leading successful teaching and learning initiatives.
- Experience with curriculum design, educational technology, and assessment of learning outcomes.
Skills and Competencies
- Bilingual (Arabic and English).
- Strong leadership and interpersonal skills, with the ability to inspire and collaborate with diverse stakeholders.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills.
- Deep understanding of contemporary pedagogical theories and practices.
- Familiarity with learning management systems (LMS) and other emerging educational technologies.
- Commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion in teaching and learning.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
