About The Role
Provide legal advice to senior management, colleges, and administrative departments of the University to ensure full compliance with applicable laws and regulations in the United Arab Emirates. Protect the University’s legal interests and draft contracts and agreements related to its academic and administrative activities.
- Legal Advisory
- Provide legal opinions to senior management on decisions and policies.
- Monitor the implementation of laws and regulations issued by the Ministry of Higher Education and other relevant government authorities.
- Contracts and Agreements
- Draft and review local and international contracts and agreements concluded by the University with partners and other entities.
- Ensure all contracts meet legal requirements and safeguard the University’s interests.
- Compliance and Governance
- Oversee the University’s compliance with internal regulations as well as federal and local legislation.
- Develop internal policies to ensure adherence to applicable laws (e.g., labor law, data protection, intellectual property).
- Disputes and Litigation
- Represent the University or coordinate with external law firms in legal cases and litigation.
- Manage and resolve legal disputes through amicable settlements or court proceedings.
- Academic and Administrative Support
- Provide legal consultation to colleges and departments regarding student or staff matters.
- Review and update the University’s internal bylaws and regulations in line with applicable laws.
- Legal Monitoring
- Track legal and legislative updates and advise management accordingly.
- Conduct legal awareness sessions, workshops, or training for staff and departments when required.
- Bachelor’s degree in Law (Master’s degree in Law or related field preferred).
- Minimum of 5 years of professional legal experience, preferably within academia or government institutions.
- In-depth knowledge of UAE laws (federal law, labor law, education regulations).
- Fluency in Arabic and English (reading, writing, and speaking).
- Strong legal drafting, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
