The Sr. Associate QA Automation Engineer is responsible for developing and executing manual and automated testing activities across Ontada's product ecosystem, including AI-enabled and GenAI-powered solutions. Working under the guidance of senior engineers and QA leads, the engineer will contribute to validating web applications, APIs, backend services, data workflows, and AI-driven features to ensure high levels of product quality, reliability, and performance.

This role partners closely with Product Managers, Software Engineers, and Operations teams to support the delivery of secure, scalable, and customer-focused healthcare technology solutions.

Key Responsibilities

Quality Engineering Ownership & Execution

• Execute test plans and test cases for assigned features and product modules.
• Participate in requirement reviews and contribute to test scenario identification.
• Identify and document defects with clear reproduction steps and supporting evidence.
• Perform functional, integration, regression, and exploratory testing.
• Support release validation activities across multiple environments.

Test Automation & Framework Development

• Develop and maintain automated test scripts for UI, API, and service-layer testing.
• Contribute to existing automation frameworks using tools such as Selenium, Playwright, TOSCA, or equivalent technologies.
• Develop and execute API automation tests using tools such as Postman, RestAssured, or similar frameworks.
• Support integration of automation suites into CI/CD pipelines.
• Utilize AI-assisted development tools such as GitHub Copilot or similar tools to improve productivity and test coverage.

AI / GenAI Quality Engineering

• Assist in validating AI-enabled and GenAI-powered product features.
• Participate in testing prompt-based workflows and AI-generated responses.
• Support validation activities focused on response accuracy, consistency, and reliability.
• Execute predefined test scenarios covering prompt variations and edge cases.
• Develop familiarity with concepts such as LLMs, prompts, RAG, AI agents, and guardrails.
• Utilize AI-powered tools to assist with test scenario generation and exploratory testing.

Backend & Data Testing

• Perform backend testing using SQL and/or NoSQL data systems.
• Validate data ingestion, transformations, persistence, and integrity across services and environments.
• Assist with testing asynchronous workflows and integrations (e.g., message queues, APIs, batch processes).

Agile Collaboration

• Collaborate with developers, business analysts, and product owners throughout the development lifecycle.
• Participate in Agile ceremonies including sprint planning, grooming, reviews, and retrospectives.
• Support shift-left testing practices by engaging early in feature development.

Quality Governance, Compliance & Continuous Improvement

• Contribute audit‑ready documentation, including test plans, execution evidence, and reports.
• Participate in root‑cause discussions for quality issues and contribute to corrective actions.
• Identify opportunities for improving QA processes, tools, and documentation; contribute suggestions through established continuous improvement channels.
• Research and evaluate new QA, automation, or performance testing, AI assisted tools and techniques as appropriate.

Minimum Requirement

Degree or equivalent and typically requires 2+ years of relevant experience.

Education

Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Engineering, Mathematics, or equivalent practical experience.

Critical Skills

• 2+ years of Software Quality Assurance experience.
• 2+ years of hands-on test automation experience.
• Experience with at least one automation framework such as Selenium, Playwright, Cypress, or TOSCA.
• Experience with API testing using Postman, RestAssured, or equivalent tools.
• Proficiency in Java, Python, or JavaScript.
• Experience working in Agile development environments.
• Basic understanding of CI/CD concepts and tools such as Jenkins or GitHub Actions.
• Experience with SQL for backend validation and data testing.
• Familiarity with Git-based source control systems.

Additional Skills

• Exposure to AI/GenAI testing concepts.
• Experience testing LLM-powered or AI-enabled applications.
• Understanding of prompt engineering and prompt validation.
• Familiarity with RAG architectures and AI evaluation techniques.
• Knowledge of healthcare technology or regulated environments.
• Experience with cloud platforms such as Azure, AWS, or GCP.

Working Conditions

• Full-time in office role based in Bangalore, India (IST).
