HVAC Technical Support Specialist - Commercial Systems

We are seeking an experienced HVAC Technical Support Specialist to provide technical troubleshooting and product support for commercial HVAC equipment and control systems. This position works directly with contractors, service technicians, manufacturers, and internal teams to diagnose problems and provide practical solutions for equipment in the field.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced commercial HVAC technician, controls specialist, or commissioning professional who wants to apply their field expertise in a technical support environment with less travel and physical fieldwork.

The ideal candidate brings strong hands-on knowledge of commercial HVAC equipment, electrical systems, controls, and building automation and can confidently troubleshoot technical issues remotely.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical support to contractors and technicians for commercial HVAC installation, startup, commissioning, service, and repair.
• Troubleshoot HVAC equipment, electrical, wiring, controls, communication, and system-performance issues.
• Walk field technicians through diagnostic procedures and recommended corrective actions.
• Support commercial equipment including chillers, rooftop units, air-handling units, VAV systems, and associated controls.
• Read and interpret wiring diagrams, equipment submittals, control sequences, specifications, and technical manuals.
• Assist with DDC controls, building automation systems, BAS integration, and BACnet communication.
• Provide technical guidance related to equipment applications, configuration, startup, and system operation.
• Work with manufacturers and internal technical teams to resolve complex equipment and controls issues.
• Assist sales teams with technical product questions, equipment selection, and application requirements.
• Document technical issues, solutions, and recurring equipment concerns.
• Contribute to technical training, product documentation, and improvements to support processes.
• Communicate technical information clearly and professionally to contractors, technicians, manufacturers, and internal teams.

Requirements

• 5+ years of hands-on commercial HVAC experience in service, controls, commissioning, startup, or field support.
• Background as a Commercial HVAC Service Technician, Controls Technician, BAS Technician, Field Service Engineer, Applications Engineer , or similar role.
• Strong troubleshooting knowledge of commercial HVAC equipment, electrical systems, and controls.
• Experience working with chillers, rooftop units, air handlers, VAV systems , or similar commercial equipment.
• Ability to read and troubleshoot from wiring diagrams, control sequences, equipment submittals, specifications, and technical manuals.
• Knowledge of commercial HVAC controls and electrical systems.
• Experience with DDC controls, BAS integration, and BACnet communication preferred.
• Strong diagnostic and problem-solving skills with the ability to troubleshoot technical issues remotely.
• Ability to communicate technical concepts clearly to both field professionals and internal teams.
• Comfortable working directly with contractors, technicians, manufacturers, and sales personnel.
• High school diploma or GED required.
