The Salvation Army (Salvos) is one of Australia’s largest providers of alcohol and other drug (AOD) programs including withdrawal management, residential and non-residential rehabilitation, and harm reduction programs. Salvos services go beyond addressing the core issues and challenges associated with problematic substance abuse and provide participants a place of hope, compassion, and dignity to recover safely.

About the role

As the Senior Practitioner - AOD & Mental Health Outreach , you will provide clinical leadership, supervision, and specialist practice guidance across outreach programs supporting individuals experiencing alcohol and other drug (AOD) and mental health challenges. Combining a direct client caseload with mentoring and capability-building responsibilities, you will support the delivery of high-quality, recovery-oriented services that promote positive outcomes for vulnerable individuals and families. This influential role plays a key part in driving evidence-informed practice, strengthening service integration, and fostering excellence across outreach programs.

Reporting to the Program Manager, this is a permanent full-time position, based on-site in Corio, VIC.

Conditions

• Compensation is in accordance with SCHADS Award - Level 5.
• How you will make an impact

• Provide leadership, mentoring, and practice guidance to outreach staff, promoting evidence-based practice and high-quality service delivery
• Deliver supervision, case consultation, and support for complex client presentations to strengthen team capability and client outcomes
• Maintain a caseload, providing person-centred AOD outreach interventions that enhance engagement, recovery, and continuity of care
• Build strong partnerships and facilitate service integration with internal teams and external stakeholders to improve coordinated client support
• Contribute to program performance, workforce development, and operational excellence, including recruitment, quality improvement, risk management, and after-hours on-call support

What you will bring

• Relevant tertiary qualification in social work or related discipline
• Minimum qualification Diploma Community Services
• Relevant experience in a social service environment
• AOD Skillset or willingness to undertake within the first 12 months of employment
• A current VIC Driver's Licence
• A current Employee Working with Children Check
