Job Summary
Friends of Children with Special Needs (FCSN) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to helping individuals with special needs and their families find love, hope, respect, and support through integrated community involvement.
The Human Resources Assistant provides administrative and operational support to the Human Resources Department. This position assists with employee records, recruitment and onboarding activities, benefits and payroll administration, HRIS maintenance, and general employee support while maintaining a high level of confidentiality, accuracy, and professionalism
Duties/Responsibilities
- Maintains accurate, confidential, and up-to-date employee records and information in the HRIS and performs periodic audits to ensure required documentation is complete.
- Provides routine information to applicants and employees regarding company policies, benefits, payroll, and hiring processes; escalates complex matters to senior HR staff or management.
- Supports recruitment activities, including job postings, interview scheduling, candidate communication, and pre-employment documentation.
- Assists with onboarding, new hire orientation, and off boarding processes.
- Assists with payroll administration by reviewing employee information, responding to routine questions, and coordinating the correction of discrepancies.
- Assists with benefits administration and communicates with employees, benefits providers, and vendors under the direction of senior HR staff.
- Provides administrative support, including preparing routine HR correspondence, reports, and employee documents.
- Assists with benefits enrollment, employee recognition activities, organization-wide meetings, and other special events.
- Performs other duties as assigned
Required Skills/Abilities
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to manage sensitive and confidential situations with tact, professionalism, and diplomacy.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
- Proficient with or the ability to quickly learn payroll management, human resource information system (HRIS), and similar computer applications.
- Ability to exercise sound judgment and maintain confidentiality.
- Ability to prioritize multiple assignments and meet deadlines.
- Customer-service orientation and ability to work effectively with employees from diverse backgrounds
- Bilingual proficiency in English and Mandarin Chinese is preferred
Education and Experience
- Associate degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field preferred; an equivalent combination of education and relevant administrative experience will also be considered.
- Prior related office experience preferred.
