About The Role
The Junior Accounting Clerk works with a team of professional staff that support the student leadership and goals of the organization. The Junior Accounting Clerk is responsible for assisting the accounting team with financial transactions, including data entry, purchase orders, issuing invoices, petty cash administration, purchase requisitions and account reconciliations. This position requires the incumbent to work effectively and to foster cooperative relationships with Student Leaders as part of a student-focused organization.
Duties and responsibilities
- Records A/P & A/R transactions, payroll journal entries and monthly bank reconciliation for review
- Reconciles daily sales transactions, counting cash and preparing weekly deposits
- Assists the accounting team to maintain the procurement system and prepares weekly payment
- Prepares monthly & quarterly chargeback invoices
- Tracks and adjusts CCSAI inventory requests & transactions as necessary, such as kitchen vouchers, event tickets and inventory
- Collects accounting information for administration, records and enter data into the Sage300 accounting system
- Assists the accounting team to prepare year-end audit and account analysis
- Provides all other general administrative support to the accounting team
- Fully conversant with, and fully adheres to, the bylaws, rules, regulations, policies and procedures of the CCSAI
- Other position-related duties as assigned by the Director, Finance & Administration and/or Executive Director
Qualifications
- Must have a valid SIN number (minimum 6 months to expiry)
Education/Experience
- Minimum two (2) years of hands-on bookkeeping background
- Recent Centennial College graduates from an accounting, business, finance or related program are encouraged to apply
Technical Knowledge
- Basic understanding of accounting principles
- Familiarity with accounting software/programs (e.g. Sage300) and computer literacy is an asset
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word)
- Experience with cloud-based tools (eg. Dropbox) is an asset
